Welcome back all players, game officials and administrative personnel to the official restart of the Over 30 league Spring 2020 season.
The restart begins on Saturday, September 12. Please ensure that you read and follow the facility and league guidelines in place for this restart.
It is important for everyone’s safety that everyone buys into these guidelines as non adherence will not be tolerated.
Everyone must buy-in. Players MUST be aware of potentially spreading the virus at all times which includes any unnecessary talking or physical play. It isn't just about your safety here; it is about everyone else's safety. If any player fails to comply for any reason, the referee's and/or Director can remove any player, at any time from their game, and they must leave the facility.
If you have it, don’t spread it. If any players, referees, timer and administrative staff are showing any Covid-19 symptoms, or has tested positive (or anyone else in their household has) they will not be allowed to play in any league games or remain at Hockeytown and will be sent home to follow the CDC self-quarantine guidelines and isolate themselves for 2 weeks.
Cover up faces. All players, referees, timer and administrative staff MUST wear a mask or face covering upon entry into the Hockeytown facility until checked in and allowed on the rink. Masks must also be worn upon leaving the rink and facility. Social distancing guidelines must be followed as best as possible prior to and after games, at all times.
Facility entry/exit policy. All players, referees, timer and administrative staff must enter the facility ONLY by the North rink FRONT entrance (entrance closest to the office). When leaving the facility, exit ONLY by the North rink SIDE entrance. All front entrances will be designated as an “enter only” access per Hockeytown.
4:30 pm first entry into facility.Only for the 5:00 pm games, the earliest players can enter the facility will be at 4:30 pm. No one will be allowed into the facility or onto the rink prior to that time. Only the goalies will be exempted for the 6:00 pm games and will be allowed to enter the facility early to get dressed. Goalies can only dress on either side of the rink (the area underneath the scoreboard is off limits).
League staggered player entry/exit policy.Due to gathering restrictions, ONLY players from each team scheduled to play will be allowed into the facility (no spouse, children, other team players, family or friends will be allowed to watch). ONLY WHEN BOTH TEAMS have exited the facility will the next teams be allowed into the facility. A group text message from your team captain will be sent when players can enter the facility. DO NOT enter the facility unless advised by your captain.
Temperature check-ins.All players, referees, timer and administrative staff MUST CHECK-IN (at a designated area directly under the scoreboard) before going onto the rink, to confirm they have no symptoms, and have their temperature taken by a non-contact infrared thermometer by a league staff member. Anyone showing a reading of 100.4 degrees or higher will be sent home.
Off limits area for getting dressed or hanging out. No one will be allowed to dress or congregate underneath the scoreboard area as this will be used to check players in and have their temperature taken.
Keep your hands to yourself. Handshakes will not be allowed AT ANY TIME while in the facility. The end of game acknowledgement line will no longer be allowed until further notice. Once the games end, players must leave the facility.
Show up to play, not hang out.Players MUST social distance anywhere around the perimeter of the rink. Drinking will not be allowed at any time while in the facility. Once a player’s game is done, they should take their equipment, put on their mask and leave the facility.
Over-30 League Playing Guidelines
Masks and face coverings. During the playing of actual games, the wearing of masks or face coverings will not be mandatory; players have the option to still wear these while playing. However, all masks and face coverings MUST be worn under the chin while on the rink. Per State and facility amended guidelines, all players MUST wear their face mask and face covering while sitting on the bench, covering their mouth and nose. In addition, during any faceoffs, centers, wings and defensemen at the faceoff next to another player MUST wear their mask and face covering. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. Failure to do so will result in a minor penalty for delay of game. This will be enforced.
Spacing on the bench. Players on the bench MUST space out with 4 players maximum sitting on the benches and others standing behind the benches while maintaining best social distancing practices. All player equipment bags should be spaced out accordingly behind the benches.
Pre game league disinfecting policy.Keeping the safety of all the players, league officials and administrative staff in mind, prior to the 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm games starting, the league will disinfectteam bench areas, the top of the dasher boards at the benches, the penalty box and timer areas, the goalie net posts and crossbars, all rink dasher board tops, as well as the check-in area underneath the scoreboardand the entry door onto the rink. Hockeytown will provide the atomizer spray device for the league to use.
Water Bottles not to be shared.Players must not share any water bottles nor energy drinks with others and keep all bottles in their hockey bags when not using or against the back of the wall behind the bench in a designated area. Goalies can keep their water bottles on tiop of the net.
Too close for comfort. As best as possible, all players should minimize incidental contact whenever possible anywhere on or off the rink. In addition, players cannot make deliberate physical contact with another player in any way (basically, avoid scrums in fromt of the net, contact in the corners or on the boards). The discretion of the referee's will determine if a penalty is warranted.
Quick whistles.Once the goalie has the ball tied up, the referee's will whistle play stopped. Quick whistles will be more common. All players must immediately move away from the net once the goalie has the ball tied up. Trying to dig the ball loose or scrums in front of the net will not be allowed and can result in a penalty at the discretion of the referee's. Players must immediately distance themselves from others following a whistle.
Make room at the inn.Only 1 player will be allowed to serve thier penalty in the penalty box. If 2 or more players from the same team are serving penalties, only 1 player remains in the box while the other player(s) stand directly outside the box to maintain social distancing.
All players must buy-in. Players MUST be aware of potentially spreading the virus at all times which include minimizing all unnecessary talking on the rink, any excessive physical play anywhere on the rink, limiting incidental contact as best as possible, questioning or complaining about referee calls and non-calls, and failing to distance after a whistle. ONLY THE CAPTAIN OR ONE ASSISTANT can speak directly to a referee (wearing their face mask or face covering) during the game while maintaining 6 feet distance. Players on the benches MUST refrain from speaaking if a referee or another player is near your bench area. Spitting or blowing one's nose on the rink, on the bench area or around the rink perimeter is not allowed. If any player fails to comply for any reason, the referee's and or the Director can remove any player, at any time from their game, and they must leave the facility.
