2014 Winter Players Of The Week
Dunkin Donuts Player Of The Week
Five Guys Player Of The Week
WEEK # 15 (12-13-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Matty, Ray, And Anthony of WLegends Last Stand. Santa was in a giving mood last week he could not come up with a clear winner so he gave it to the top line in the over-30 league Matty, Ray, and Anthony. Last week they had 11 total points between them.

WEEK # 15 (12-13-14)

The Week 15 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award final award for the winter 2014 season goes to Sergio Costa of Who Needs Superstars. Sergio has had a very quiet (like crickets) but effective season, finishing tied for 5th place overall in scoring, setting a personal best record of scoring at least a goal in seven straight games.  Playing a strong game heading into the playoffs, Sergio was a big factor in this game, setting up the first two goals and then assisting on the insurance goal in his team’s victory.

WEEK # 14 (12-6-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is John Mastrocola of Who Needs Superstars. In a back and fourth game John Broke up a tie game by scoring two third period goals leading his team to a 6 to 4 final score. John finished with a hat trick and helping his team clinching first place this season.

WEEK # 14 (11-29-14)

The Week 14 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award goes to Derrick Power of Legends last Stand. With his team playing short-handed in a must win game, Derrick stepped up his game and logged  a lot of minutes, played solid position and did his part in limiting the opposition in only scoring one goal. Originally drafted as a forward for his team, Derrick has seamlessly adapted to playing defense and stabilized what was a concern earlier in the season about his team's defensive core.

WEEK # 13 (11-29-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Matty Iannello of Legends Last Stand.  The Great One played a key role in finally leading his team out of the cellar in the team standings and position themselves for that final playoff spot.  Matty factored into both of his team's goals, setting up the first, then scoring the game winner.  It's fitting that the Great One wins this award since receiving a hockey ball in recognition of becoming the first-ever Over-30 player to record 1,000 career points is simply not good enough for such a milestone.

WEEK # 13 (11-29-14)

The Week 13 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award goes to Jeff Deharo of Legends last Stand. Jeff was solid in net ensuring that his team’s early lead held up, stopping 24 out of 25 shots and just missing out on a shut-out. Jeff’s rebound control and angle positioning was outstanding all game, tying up most initial shots and not giving his opponents any good looks at the net.  Jeff’s play in net has helped Legends Last Stand win four of their last five games and get back into the playoff race.

WEEK # 12 (11-22-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Scott Young of Goodfellas. The league had a tough choice this week on who was the top player this week. After many long days we had no choice, but to give it to Scott not beacuse he had a hat trick just because we could not come up with any one else that had many points this week. Scott finished with one goal and two assists.

WEEK # 12 (11-22-14)

The Week 12 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gand Award goes to Mike Hollingsworth of FOURget About-it.  With his team playing short-handed on defense, Mike stepped up and logged major minutes to quarterback the defense. With his crafty stick position as well as placing his big body in the right spots on the rink, Mike broke up multiple scoring chances and passes by the opponent. Mike generated five shots on net and was instrumental in overtime while his team was short-handed in blocking shots that led to his team winning the game.

WEEK # 11 (11-15-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Sergio Costa of Who Needs Superstars. If you look at the scoring sheet from last week Sergio did not have the most points, but he did have the most impact on his team scoring one goal, and adding two assists. Sergio finished with 10 shoots one net and played a great two way game.

WEEK # 11 (11-15-14)

The Week 9 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gand Award goes to Colleen Sedille of Goodfellas. As the only girl playing in the Over-30 league, Colleen made Jim Barber's chasing league history motto come true by having Jim admit to Colleen "who's your mommy now" with the highlight play of the winter 2014 season. Colleen's tournament-level Defensive play against Jim, whereby she flipped the script when Jim tried to make a spin move around her along the boards, only to trip over his own feet and fall flat on his face, while Colleen calmly retrieved the ball and set up a team mate for a scoring chance. An embarrassed Jim was last seen limping back to his bench, head down, ducking for cover from the humiliation. For good measure, Colleen assisted on the key insurance goal in her team's victory,.

WEEK # 10 (11-8-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Anthony Lauletta of Legends Last Stand. This is a first since we started the Dunkin Donut award. Anthony has won this award for the second week in a row which has never been done before. The voters had no choice but too give this award to Anthony after scoring 4 goals and the third win in a row for the Legends Last Stand.

WEEK # 10 (11-8-14)

The Week 9 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gand Award goes to Mike O'Neil of Who Needs Superstars. After his team was down two goals Mike stepped up and got his team on the board scoring a great goal at the start of the second period. Mike finished with a hat trick helping his team come away with one point.

WEEK # 9 (11-1-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Anthony Lauletta of Legends Last Stand. Since coming off IR Anthony has been on fire, he has 7 points in his last two games. Last night he had 2 goals and 2 assists helping his team with there second win in a row and making a run in the playoff race.

WEEK # 9 (11-1-14)

The Week 9 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gand Award goes to John Lasala Jr. of Legends Last Stand. The rookie defenseman has playing more like a veteran in stabilizing his team's defense and adding his cannon of a shot as a lethal weapon to his team's offense. Over the last three games played, John has scored 5-goals, many of these coming from long distance. John has also made Over-30 history not once but twice in his first season, scoring the longest goal ever scored (an estimated 144 feet from behind his net) as well as the quickest goal ever scored (3 seconds off the opening face-off).

WEEK # 8 (10-25-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Ray Nickerson of Legends Last Stand. Please do not adjust your sets that was Ray running up and down the rink all night long. Ray helped his team get there first victory of the season. Ray finished with two goals and one assist. It was nice too see Ray find his groove.

WEEK # 8 (10-25-14)

The Week 8 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gand Award goes to John "Cooch" Coluccielloof Legends Last Stand. Yes, don't adjust your computer screen here, Cooch finally got rewarded with one of the weekly awards (unlike the biased judging involved in the Dunkin player of the week award, there is no biased voting for this award). Cooch produced an Over-30 hat trick by scoring a big goal, adding an assist and picking up a penalty, helping his team finally earn their long overdue first win of the season.

WEEK # 7 (10-18-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Joe Mancinelli of Goodfellas. Joe was key in his team's victory over first place team That's A Plus. Joe finished with three assists and played a great two way game moving his team up in the league standings.

WEEK # 7 (10-18-14)

The Week 7 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gand Award goes to Rick Cassano of Goodfellas. With his team missing two forwards from the first line and a top defenseman, Rick brought his A-game this week, both on offense and team leadership to move his team into first place in the standings. Rick made a big impact in setting up the go ahead goal and then he followed that up with his own insurance goal to seal the victory.

WEEK # 6 (10-11-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Mike Luise of Who Needs Superstars. Mike made a big jump in the league leaders page by scoring a hat trick. The last couple of weeks we were hearing about how Mike has lost a step and his scoring touch, he found both of them last week. The Over-30 league does not have a drug testing policy but we might have to start one.

WEEK # 6 (10-11-14)

The Week 6 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gand Award goes to Carlos Machado of FOURget About-it. Carlos clinched this week's award with a dramatic overtime goal 11 seconds into a power play, on a shot from the left point, giving his team the win and sole possession of first place. For Carlos, he was drafted as a foward but has played four of his team's games playing defense. For one week, Carlos was the Portuguese Power player of the league.

WEEK # 5 (10-4-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Pat Pirone of That's A Plus. Pat had his best game this season, scoring the Over-30 hat trick scoring two goals, two assist, and two penalties. Not sure, but this could be Pat's first Dunkin Donut award we will have to search our data base to see if this is true.

WEEK # 5 (10-4-14)

The Week 5 winner of the Five Guys Lunch Pail Gand Award was too close to call this week, as we have co-winners in Jamie Kehoe of Goodfellas and Sean Snelders from That's A Plus. After being out the last two games, Jamie looked very strong defensively finishing a plus 3 for his game while also sparking his team's offense by scoring a goal and setting up another. For Sean, his second line was the story in his team's win as they injected a shot of energy early, with Sean scoring a goal and setting up another while throwing 5 shots on net.

WEEK # 4 (9-27-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Tony Medeiros of That's A Plus. Each season Tony has one of those games, and last week he had himself a big one.Tony helped his team get back on track by scoring 4 goals. Tony had the first three goals of the game setting the tone for the night. The first two goals were 20 seconds a part, his fourth goal game with 2 mins left in the game.

WEEK # 4 (9-27-14)

The premise behind the weekly Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award is to give this award out to a player who doesn't necessarily find his name on the game sheet. However, this week is the exception. Week's 4's Five Guys Lunch Pail Gand Award winner goes to Dominic Defrancisco of That's A Plus who assisted on 5 goals in his team's win. Dominic's hustle throughout the entire game played a big role in the victory, as he factored in on 5 of his team's 6 goals.

WEEK # 3 (9-20-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is John Desmond  of FOURget About-it. John scored a natural hat trick scoring two goals in the second period and one late in the third period. FOURget About-it crushed That's A Plus 7 to 1.

WEEK # 3 (9-20-14)

We had a difficult time picking a winner for Week 3's Five Guys Lunch  Pail Gang Award. We paced back and forth walking around for what seemed a lifetime until we magically found ourselves on the yellow brick road heading to the land of Oz  that we had an epiphany and realized the choice was Tony aka "the Munchkin" Mastrocola of FOURget About-it. Tony's offensive outburst late in the first period in less than a minute's time produced an assist and the go ahead goal in leading his team in a blowout win. Tony's 6 shots taken in this game reinforced just how much he was involved in his team's offense, never once worring about and flying monkeys overhead or a house falling on him.

WEEK # 2 (9-13-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Mike O'Neil of Who Needs Superstars. The highly touted rookie came into the league with high recommendations and has not failed to live up to all the press. Mike scored 2-goals late inthe second period and early in the third period along with an assist to lead his team's offense and break open a close game. Even though it is ealry in the new season, the play of Mike O'Neil and Derek Shaw is turning into a potent offensive combination.

WEEK # 2 (9-13-14)

The Week 2 winner of the Five Guys Lunch  Pail Gang Award, goes to defenseman Paul Castonguay of That's A Plus. Paul played a very strong all around game on defense, blocking shots and taking care of his side of the defensive zone. His shot from the left point halfway through the game broke open a tie game, shifting the momentum to his team as they cruised to victory.

WEEK # 1 (9-6-14)

This week's Dunkin Donut winner is Derek Shaw of Who Needs Superstars. This is Gary Goodwin's favorite fantasy player we can see why scoring a hat trick in the first game of the new season. Derek scored the first two goals of the game setting the tone early.
