Dominic DeFrancisco

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Dominic Defrancisco of the Roadrunners.

Dominic single-handedly impacted his game in the first period leaving no doubt that his team would win.  In a span of less than three minutes, Dominic scored twice and assisted on another.

In all, Dominic factored in on seven of his team’s eight goals, with 4-goals and adding      3-assists.  In summary, Dom was a one-man wrecking crew on offense while playing a complete two-way game.  His seven points provided a big leap up the leading scorers race into a tie for 5th place.

Week #13
Steve Iacoviello

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Steve Iacoviello of the Goombahs.

Although he is usually overshadowed by the play and impact of team mate Jason Carrien, Ike elevated his game, especially in the defensive zone, making sure that any scoring chances were minimized and controlling the play.

His heads-up defensive play in the third period with his team short-handed, was a smart play, recognizing and setting up his team mate coming out of the box for a breakaway to break open a close tie game.

Steve Iacoviello

Week #13
Rob Valley

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Rob Valley of Vulcan Grip.

In a close game, Rob played a very smart and steady game on defense, minimizing turnovers in his own zone, while making smart dump ins giving his forwards a chance to run down the ball.

All game, Rob was reading the play in front of him, playing solid positioning, keeping any scoring chances out on the perimeter.

Rob Valley

Week #13
Sean Roach

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Sean Roach of the Goombahs.

Overall, Sean showcased why he has been at or near the top of the goalie’s league leaders.  Stopping 36 out of 37 shots faced in his game, Sean made multiple key saves in a tie game and was the main reason why his team won.

One of his highlight saves was at the end of the first period in a 1-1 game, robbing the opposing player from point blank range with a timely glove save, taking away a sure goal.

Sean Roach

Week #13
Cappy

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Cappy of Vulcan Grip.

Week #12
Gary Goodwin

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Gary Goodwin of the Roadrunners.

With his team missing its top goal scorer and take the pressure off his captain, someone needed to step up in a big key game between the two teams tied for second place in the standings.

That player, as he has done all season, was Gary who scored a timely insurance goal at the end of the second period, to secure his team’s victory.

Gary scored his 8th goal in his last six games while extending his points streak to six straight games, and has a realistic chance to tie his career record of 13 goals scored in a season.

Gary Goodwin

Week #13

Dominic DeFrancisco
Week #12
Alex Leone

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Alex Leone of Devil’s Disciples.

You can always count on Alex to go about playing solid defense in his own quiet way that usually doesn’t get noticed on the rink.

What Alex brings to the game is consistency in playing defense for his team.

What you don’t usually see is Alex making a big impact on his team’s offense.  However, when it does happen, it stands out, as Alex played a major role in his team’s latest win by setting up two of their three goals.

Alex Leone

Week #12
Dan Broderick

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Dan Broderick of Justice League.

He may be one of the oldest players in the league but his leadership and rink experience always stands out.

With a big test against the 1st place team, Dan anchored his team's defense in shutting down their oppents high powered offense by limiting their scoring chances.

Dan set up his team's third goal to break this game open in the second period, helping them score four unanswered goals.

Dan Broderick

Week #12
Dale McIsaac

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Dale McIsaac of Captain’s Mutiny.

With his team trailing by a goal at the beginning of the third period, Dale kept it that way as he robbed Ray Dow from the left point, thirty seconds into the period, flashing a glove save denying a sure goal top corner through a screen.

Dale Mclsaac

Week #12
Joe Shannon

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Joe Shannon of the Roadrunners.

Joe Shannon
Player(s) of the Week 11
Week #11
Tony Medeiros

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Tony Medeiros of the Devil’s Disciples.

Showing off his versatility, Tony played defense and offense in his game.

Down by two goals late in the second period, Tony shifted up front to score a power play goal then followed that up with another goal a minute later.  Tony capped off his hat trick with a big insurance goal late in the game.

For one week, Tony showed that he can still be the Portuguese Power even on defense.

Tony Medeiros

Week #11
Tony Bono

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Tony Bono of the Goombahs.

In a game that will likely determine who finishes in first place in the standings, Tony showed off his versatility by filling in on defense halfway through his game, with his team being short-handed on defense.

Tony typically goes quietly about his business when he plays and doesn’t factor much on the score sheet.  However, what he brings each game in his play is recognized and appreciated by his team mates and the league.

Tony Bono

Week #11
Jeff Deharo

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Jeff Deharo of Vulcan Grip.

Jeff stopped all 24 shots faced in his game to earn his first shutout of the season.

Jeff has been consistent all season in only giving up three goals or less in games he has played this season.  All season he has been close to the top in the leading goalie race by average.

Jeff Deharo

Week #11
Sean Roach

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Sean Roach of the Goombahs.

In a scoreless game between the top two teams in the league, Sean sent a message to both his opponent and team, that he came to play, denying a point-blank scoring chance at 7:20 of the first period.

As he has done all season, Sean stepped up to make multiple keys saves for his team with the game on the line.

Sean Roach

Week #11
Ray Dow
The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Ray Dow of Devil’s Disciples.

Ray Dow
Player(s) of the Week 10
Week #10
Mike Duggan

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Mike Duggan of the Roadrunners.

During the Roadrunners four game winning streak, Mike has elevated his game by scoring 5-goals and 8 assists to quickly move into third place overall in the leading scorer’s race.

Mike continued this trend as he factored in on every goal his team scored in a rout with 2-goals and 3-assists.

With his speed and quick release, Mike took 10 shots in his game, accounting for a quarter of the shots taken by his team.

Mike Duggan

Week #10
Scott Rosato

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Scott Rosato of Devil’s Disciples.

In a close one goal game that his team was leading after two periods, Scott played one of his best games this season and made timely key save after timely key save to give his short-handed team a chance.

Scott stopped 34 out of the 36 shots he faced in his game, some of them point-blank attempts.

Perhaps it was him wearing that Pink warm up shirt that motivated him; regardless you know the old saying Scott to “respect the streak” so keep wearing that Pink shirt.

Scott Rosato

Week #10
Gary Goodwin

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Gary Goodwin of the Roadrunners.

For the third game out of his last four games played, Gary has been consistent on offense.  Once again Gary scored 2-goals to move into 3rd place on his team for scoring.

By doing so, Gary easily beat his Pink Shirt Challenge in 10 games, after starting the season with only one goal scored in six games.

Gary Goodwin

Week #10
Dave Giusti

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Dave Giusti of Justice League.

With his team getting outplayed and outrun, Dave kept this game a one goal deficit as he made an acrobatic save at 7:10 of the second period off Dominic Defrancisco, making the initial save then turning back falling down to knock a sure goal out of the air with his stick.

Dave Giusti

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Dave Giusti of Justice League.

Simply put, Dave was on fire in his game, as he single-handedly stole this game for his team, emphatically putting an end to their four-game losing streak.

Dave was locked in, stopping all 25 shots faced, for his first shutout of the season.  He was especially sharp with his team clinging to a 1-0 lead.

In a series of league games where all 6 goalies stood out and played solidly, Dave elevated his game to stand out at the top of the goalie list.  Well done!!

Week #9
Mike Cresta

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Mike Cresta of the Vulcan Grip.

Being a rookie has its challenges playing in the Over-30 league, as well as being a blue-collar player.  These players efforts can typically get overlooked.

Mike played one of his better games as he set up a goal early in his game, looked more comfortable in the offensive zone, generating 5 shots.

Mike’s second period pass from behind the net to a team mate out front through traffic was the type of pass that the stars players make in the league.

Mike Cresta

Week #9
Joe Shannon

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Joe Shannon of the Roadrunners.

With his short-handed and playing with only three defensemen, Joe played a lot of minutes and took over the quarterback role for his team on defense.  Joe set up his team’s first goal.

His rink awareness, positioning and leadership were clearly evident.  What also stood out was how effortlessly Joe did all the little things playing defense, including using his stick to constantly get in the way to break up any scoring chances.  It was a classic example of anticipating the play and outthinking his opponent.

Joe Shannon

Week #9
Steve Taddonio

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Steve Taddonio of the Roadrunners.

With his team clinging on to a one goal lead and the other team pulling their goalie in the last minute, with 20 seconds left in the game, Steve preserved the victory by not only stopping the point shot but also the immediate follow-up point blank shot.

Week #8
Pedro Fontes

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Pedro Fontes of Vulcan Grip.

Not only did Pedro have his running legs going all game, but also his scoring game, as he was the difference maker in his game.  Pedro has been getting his chances this season; in this game he made them count.

Pedro scored a hat trick and added a key assist on the game winning goal, as he sparked his team’s comeback win, as they scored four unanswered goals in the third period.

Pedro Fontes

Week #8
Mike Delorey

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Mike Delorey of the Goombahs.

Who knew that Mike was a goal scorer all this time.  Maybe we were wrong drafting him as a defenseman instead of as a forward.

Mike stayed hot for the second straight game, scoring 2-goals to add to his other goal scored last week.

Could the Goombahs have found a surprising depth forward on their team that can score goals and take some of the spotlight away from their top scoring first line of the Paisans?

Mike Delorey

Week #8
John Kelleher

The winner of the weekly AARP award is John Kelleher of Vulcan Grip.

With his team down by two goals just under three minutes into the third period, the captain led by example to get his team back in this game, hustling to set up a goal, then capping off a four-goal outburst by scoring a goal.

The team gained momentum from this effort to shut down their opponent to put an end to their two-game losing streak and move up the standings.

John Kelleher

Week #7
Gino Tammaro

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Gino Tammaro of the Goombahs.

With his team deadlocked in a tie game heading into the third period, Gino took over the offense for his team and had a big impact in the final score of his team’s third straight win.

Gino’s 2nd and 3rd goals of the game were scored early in the third period, in the first three minutes, only a minute and a half apart, that broke open the game.

Coincidentally during this three-game winning streak, Gino has been red hot, scoring 8-goals while adding 7-assists to extending his lead atop the leading scorer’s race.

Gino Tammaro

Week #7
Colleen O'Connell

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Colleen O’Connell of Captain’s Mutiny.

With her team playing short-handed on offense, Colleen shifted up front to help her team and played a solid game.  Playing the wing in her defensive zone, Colleen helped out the defense denying scoring chances.

Her rink awareness and positioning paid off as she set up the key game winning goal out front.

She may be the only girl playing in the league, but Colleen more than holds her own against the guys.

Colleen O'Connell

Week #7
Mike Delorey

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Mike Delorey of the Goombahs.

Coming into this season, Mike was asked to move up front and play forward, as the league had a surplus of defensemen.

Mike has transitioned seamlessly into the position change with no issues, scoring his first goal of the season in the process.

Mike Delorey

Week #7
Scott Rosato

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Scott Rosato of Devil’s Disciples.

In a very close tied game, right before the second period ended, Scott made a right shoulder save of a point-blank shot by Matty Iannello that was heading into the top corner of the net, keeping the game tied.

Player(s) of the Week 6
Week #6
Jason Carrien

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Jason Carrien of the Goombahs.

Often overlooked in recognition due to his consistent steady play and impact on games defensively, Jason will break out at times on offense to directly impact the outcome.

Such was the case in his game as Jay scored a hat trick to break open a scoreless game to jump start his team’s offense, triggering their rout of their opponent.

Jason Carrien

Week #6
Gary Wurlitzer

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Gary Wurlitzer of Captain’s Mutiny.

The rookie stepped up in his game, playing a big role in helping his team put an end to their five-game losing streak to start the winter 2022 season.

Gary’s hustle and rink awareness set up two of the three goals his team scored to secure their first win of the season.

His ability to find the open man paid off for his team and gave them a huge confidence boost.

Gary Wurlitzer

Week #6
Tony Bono

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Tony Bono of the Goombahs.

One thing you can always say about Tony is he may not get his name on the score sheet, but he is always consistent in his play, especially throwing blanket coverage around his opponent.

Tony factored into the scoring outburst by his team, setting up three goals, getting rewarded for his defensive play.

It was a well-deserved recognition, as Tony’s all-around play stood out with the voters.

Tony Bono

Week #6
Sean Roach

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Sean Roach of the Goombahs.

With his team locked in a scoreless game in the first period, Sean kept it that way, standing tall and taking away the top corner making a key glove save against Doug Morand in the high slot.  Sean made a few more point blank saves before his team scored a couple of goals to break open this game.

Sean Roach

John Carey

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is John Carey of Devil’s Disciples.

John Carey
Player(s) of the Week 5
Week #5
Angelo De Luca

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Angelo De Luca of the Goombahs.

With his team missing his top two defensemen, someone had to step up for the team.  That player was their captain and leader.

Down three goals halfway through the game and staring at a sure loss, Angelo sparked the comeback, scoring 4-goals to shock their opponent.  Stepping up only thirty seconds into overtime to cap off a stunning comeback.

Angelo De Luca

Week #5
Joe Shannon

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Joe Shannon of the Roadrunners.

Playing healthy, Joe looks like the Joe Shannon from the past, leading the way as the veteran for the defense, quarterbacking the play, and controlling his defensive zone.

Joe set up two goals in the second period to help break open a close one-goal game, and helped shut down the opponent for a shutout win.

Joe’s experience and overall play has helped the Roadrunners be very stingy on giving up goals, only allowing 11 through the first five games.

Joe Shannon

Week #5
Tony Fosco

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Tony Fosco of Roadrunners.

Some players this season are having breakout seasons and getting noticed.  Tony is one of those players.

Finally drafted away from the shadow of his cousin John Mastrocola, Tony’s skills are on full display, scoring 2 more goals, while scoring both game winning goals for his team.

Tied for the goal scoring lead on his team, Tony has emerged as another surprising scoring threat for his team, that opponents can no longer take lightly.

Tony Fosco

Week #5
Steve Taddonio

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Steve Taddonio of the Roadrunners.

With his team locked in a scoreless close game, Steve shut the door, denying Derrick Power dead on in the high slot on a point-blank scoring chance.  The save swung the momentum resulting in his team scoring thirty seconds later to take control of this game.

Player(s) of the Week 4
Week #4
Derrick Powers

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Derrick Power of Justice League.

Derrick Power scored a hat trick!  Derrick Power?  Yes, that Derrick Power on his first three shots of the game, buried all three chances in scoring his first-ever hat trick in the Over-30 league.

Showing that he is no longer just a blue-collar grunt runner, Derrick scored a goal in each period to break open a close game and lead his team’s offense.

Derrick Power

Week #4
Sergio Costa

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Sergio Costa of Vulcan Grip.

Moving to center agreed with Sergio as he scored a key go ahead goal in the second period, while hustling on both ends of the rink.

Sergio’s playmaking skills were on display as he was setting up team mates throughout the game.

This could turn into a big comeback season for Sergio, as he looks like he is ready to return back to his Winter 2018 form and make a big impact on his team’s scoring.

Sergio Costa

Week #4
Mike Luise

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Mike Luise of Justice league.

Playing a solid two-way game, Mike had 2-assists and drove that second line standing out as their team’s offense in scoring 4 out of their 6 goals scored in their game.

Week #4
Scott Rosato

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Scott Rosato of Devil’s Disciples.

Too many key timely saves to just pick one.  Scott was simply outstanding in his game, making timely saves to keep his team in a low scoring game, especially in the second period.

Scott Rosato

Week #4
Dave Costa

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Dave Costa of Vulcan Grip.

Dave Costa
Player(s) of the Week 3
Week #3
Tony Fosco

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Tony Fosco of the Roadrunners.

No longer in John Mastrocola’s shadow and being held back, Tony had an impact statement game.  With his team missing its top two players on offense, Tony stepped up scoring a hat trick, breaking open a close game in the second period.

All three of Tony’s goals were perfectly placed shots that had a lot of zip behind them.

Could this finally be Tony’s breakout season?  If it is, look for the Roadrunners to be a tough opponent to play against.

Tony Fosco

Week #3
Naz

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Naz of the Roadrunners.

With his team missing its top two players on offense and having to move a defenseman to forward, Naz played a lot of minutes, playing some solid shutdown defense in the process, helping his team earn their first win of the season.

Naz even got his first point of the season, by setting up a key late second period goal that broke open a close game, with a heads-up breakout pass.

Naz

Week #3
Ron Aquino

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Ron Aquino of Justice League.

The Flyin’ Hawaiian had an impact game, stepping up on offense to score

2-goals a minute apart, early in the third period, to break open a close game.

Ron’s play usually goes unnoticed but he uses this to his advantage, catching the opponents defense asleep to take advantage of that.

Ron Aquino

Week #3
Dave Giusti

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Dave Giusti of Justice League.

As his team was in command holding a three-goal lead late in the third period, Dave made that stand up with an acrobatic timely save off John Kelleher in the high shot, as he contorted and got his left shoulder up to block the top corner, keeping the ball out of the net.

Dave Giusti

Jason Carrien
Player(s) of the Week 2

Week #2
George Medeiros

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week weekly award winner is George Medeiros of Devil’s Disciples.

George lit it up in a breakout offensive performance, factoring in on six of his team’s nine goals scored, as he set the pace for his team’s dominating win.

George scored a natural hat trick in the first period alone, scoring a goal on his first three shots taken, and added 3-assists throughout the game.

Don’t be surprised to see George near the top of the scoring race this season, as we have a hunch he will have a breakout season, joining the elite scorers of the league.

George Medeiros

Week #2
Dan Broderick

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Dan Broderick of Justice League.

Another example of why Dan is well respected by his peers throughout the league took place last week, showcasing Dan’s experience, stamina, positioning and mental focus.

Playing with only three defensemen, halfway through the game, in a tie game, Dan’s team lost a defenseman.  As a result, Dan played a lot of minutes, was solid defensively and positionally, and never lost a step against his younger opponents.

For all those younger and quicker defensemen, if you didn’t witness this in person, you missed out on a lesson of just what makes Dan an icon of defensemen in this sport.

Dan Broderick

Week #2
Lee Nogler

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Lee Nogler of Devil’s Disciples.

Fresh off an impressive rookie season where Lee finished in the top five in scoring, and known for the “unofficial” hardest shot in the league, Lee made his season debut and picked up from where he left off.

Only three minutes into the game, he assisted on the game’s first two goals, then added his own 2-goals later in the game, as his team routed their opponent.

Rumor has it that Lee will be making a strong bid to lead the league in scoring this season.

Lee Nogler

Week #2
Dave Giusti

The winner of the Goalie Lucky Save of the Week award is Dave Giusti of Justice League.

With his team holding a two-goal lead in the first period, Dave kept it that way with some highway robbery at the end of the period on Steve Iacoviello, with a highlight reel stretched toe/glove save.

Dave Giusti

Week #2
Tony Medeiros

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Tony Medeiros of the Devil’s Disciples.

Player(s) of the Week 1

Week #1
Joe Carlton

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Joe Carlton of Vulcan Grip.

Coming into this season we weren’t quite sure which Joe Carlton we would see. The goal
scorer from years past right there as one of the league’s top scorers, or the player who
goal scoring had dropped off.

You could say that Joe was definitely a wildcard.  We quickly got our answer in an impact performance way, as Joe was the best player on offense for his team, scoring 2-goals and adding 2-assists. Joe factored in on every goal that his team scored.

How much of an offensive impact? In the 32 shots his team took, Joe accounted for a
third of them, ripping off 10 shots.

Joe Carlton

Week #1
John Mastrocola

The Five Guys Player of the Week award winner is John Mastrocola of Justice League.

This season’s first trivia question player who scored the season’s first goal, came ready to
play, as his goal scored only a minute and a half into the game stood up for most of this
game.

With his team clinging to their one goal lead, John’s hustle and pressure resulted in a big
insurance goal with just over two minutes to play in the game.

With his cousin Tony Fosco voicing how upset he was in the off season of not pairing up
with John again, it was John who quickly put an end to all the complaining but stating
“Tony who?”

John Mastrocola

Week #1
Rob Sheridan

The AARP Player of the Week award winner is Rob Sheridan of Justice League

After taking a prolonged absence of seventeen years from playing in the Over-30 league,
Rob decided to come out of retirement and see if he could still keep up with the talent.

If week 1 is any indication, the answer is yes, as Rob factored in on both goals his team
scored in posting a 2 – 0 shutout. As we have seen in the past, Rob makes heads up
plays creating time and space for his team mates, while delivering pinpoint passes on their
sticks.

Not a bad way to start the rebirth of his league career. We can’t wait to see what else Rob
can do once he gets his running legs back!

Rob Sheridan

Week #1
Sean Roach

The Lottery "Lucky Save" of the Week award winner is Sean Roach of the Goombahs.

Sean Roach’s 2nd period breakaway save on Mike Duggan at the 5-minute mark allowed
his team to overcome a one goal deficit and spark them to score two quick goals before
pulling away for the win.

Sean Roach

Week #1
Doug Morand

The Mylec Defenseman of the Week award is Doug Morand of the Roadrunners.

Doug Morand
