Over 30 Hockey League

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Dave Norton of White Lies.

Dave left no doubt early and often in his game that his team would win, as he exploded on offense with 4-goals and 2-assists to factor in on every goal except two in his team’s rout.

Dave total points production was one short of most points scored by a player in a single game this season.  Dave’s big scoring day leapfrogged him into 6^th place overall amongst the league scoring leaders.  

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is John Hines of Royal Family.

John is one of those under the radar defensemen that is solid at his position but will get overlooked by others who are flashier and stand out by their point production.

 What you will get from John is consistency defensively, his ability to read the play and make safe breakout passes.  His under the radar approach would make John a valuable addition to any team’s defensive core.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Doug Sedille of Black Magic.

All season long, Doug has shown off his versatility as a player by either playing forward or filling in on defense.  Bo matter where he plays, he brings that smart hockey sense into play.

Playing back on the top line, Doug assisted on the game’s opening goal while showing off his ability to slow the game down, read the play, while setting up team mates for scoring chances by passing to open spots on the rink. 

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Scott Rosato of Black Magic.

It was only justified that Scott completed the best season he has ever had career-wise with a shutout, as he stopped all 30 shots faced, including a penalty shot chance late in the game.

With zero goals allowed, Scott lowered his season GAA well below 2.00, becoming only the ninth goalie to make league history and join the exclusive regular season "under 2.00 GAA" club.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Dan Broderick of White Lies. 

The well-respected defensive icon of the league may be older, slower and takes longer to recover after playing, but he continues to play a steady and intelligent style on the rink.

Even against today’s younger and faster players, Dan is still hard to beat one on one, is a magician with the poke check and his hockey IQ is one of the very best in the league.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Nick Romano of Black Magic.

Nick turned back the time when he was younger and had the legs, as his team played shorthanded on offense with only four players.

Nick’s hustle resulted in scoring a goal and setting up three others, including cleanly winning a key faceoff in the second period that broke open a close game.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is John Mastrocola of Marooned.

Hampered with a season of dealing with multiple injuries, John came back off of his recent stint on IR to fill in on defense for his shorthanded team and played a solid game. 

Just as things were looking positive for John, unfortunately he suffered another lower body injury late in his game to go back on IR.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Paul Firicano of Black Magic.

With his team playing shorthanded on defense, Paul was the quarterback, showing why he has been one of the more consistent defensemen this season.

Paul played some major minutes, scoring a big goal in the first minute of the game, while also setting up a big insurance goal.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Steve Taddonio of Tealsters Union.

Steve recorded his first weekly goalie award stopping 28 out of 29 shots faced in his game.

Steve played his best game of the season, making some timely key saves in a tie game to give his team time to get their offense going.  Steve could be the X factor come playoff time for his team to be successful.  

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Cappy of Tealsters Union. 

In a big game for playoff seeding, Cappy and his team’s defensive core shut down and contained their opponent.

Cappy controlled the play in his zone, made some smart breakout passes, and set up a big insurance goal early in the third period.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Gino Tammaro of Royal Family.

Gino had his best game of the season, as he factored in on every goal his team scored, with     2-goals and 2-assists.

His shorthanded goal early in the second period was the big play of the game as he took a breakout pass and was off to the races, burying his shot on a breakaway.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Joe Carlton of Royal Family.

With his team missing two defensemen, Joe stepped in to fill that need.  Joe set up a goal in the first period, while playing some big minutes.

Joe’s positioning helped move the ball out of his team’s defensive zone quickly, helping keep the opponent’s scoring chances to a minimum.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Pat Pirone of Royal Family.

Pat had his forechecking game going, as he disrupted the breakout timing of the opponent’s defense while establishing position at the crease.

His effort paid off as he set up the game’s first goal only forty seconds into his game, then scored a goal himself positioned at the top of the crease to give his team an early two goal lead. 

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Jeff Deharo of Royal Family.

With his team hustling the entire game on both ends of the rink and giving him an early first period lead, Jeff made sure to keep it that way, as he stopped 23 out of 25 shots he faced.

In the second period alone, Jeff had multiple saves on prime scoring chances where he flashed out the glove taking away the net and not giving up any rebounds.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Shawn Mulcahy of Royal Family. 

Shawn played his best game of the season on defense, as he played smart, ball control to quarterback the defense.

His ability to read the play and snuff out any scoring chances was on display, as well as his ability to slow down the pace of the play making heads up decisions and breakout passes.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Jamie Kehoe of Marooned.

Jamie’s game is starting to fall into place as his team’s number one quarterback defenseman and impact player.

Jamie factored in on every goal his team scored, setting up all three goals, in a big win for his team.  In the last two games, Jamie has jumped into the offense with 7-points.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Dave Giusti of the Sandbaggers.

With his team missing four of its players on offense, and the opposition carrying the play, Dave played one of his best games this season in keeping his team in this game.

Facing 32 total shots, many of Dave’s saves occurred in a flurry of scoring chances.  If not for his solid play in net, this game could have easily been a blowout.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Ron Aquino of Tealsters Union.

The Flyin Hawaiian had his best game this season, with 1-goal and 1-assist.  His breakaway highlight goal late in the second period was a thing of beauty as he made a goal scorer’s move to freeze the goalie and score.

Ron’s goal got his team back into their game and swung the momentum to their side.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Dale McIsaac of Marooned.

Dale was solid all game in leading his team to a huge win that moved them into second place overall in the standings.

Dale stopped 31 out of 32 shots faced in his game, with multiple saves on point blank scoring attempts. 

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Bill Abcunas of Black Magic. 

With his team shorthanded on defense, Bill played a lot of minutes.  His solid positioning allowing him to anticipate the play to break up passes and any scoring attempts, limiting the opposition’s offense allowing his team to transition into quick breakouts.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Jim Barber of White Lies.

In a key game for the team standings, Jim’s performance gave his team an edge, as he scored a hat trick, in helping his team extend their winning streak to 2 games.

Jim extended his goal scoring streak to two games, but more importantly has scored the game winning goal in both of these games.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Dan Broderick of White Lies.

He may be older and a little slower, but the well-respected defenseman knows how to play this game.  Dan’s ability to always read the play in front of him, make stick to stick breakout passes, and his uncanny ability never to get beat one-on-one are always on display.

Dan assisted on one of his team’s goals, while playing smart positional defense to play a role in his team posting their first shutout of the season.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Jamie Kehoe of Marooned.

After 11 weeks played this season, we finally got to see Jamie Kehoe make an impact on the game sheet.

Jamie scored 1-goal and added 2-assists, as he factored in on his team’s first three goals in building up a big lead.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Sean Roach of White Lies.

Sean has displayed a resurgence in his overall game which has impacted his team, as they extended their winning streak to two games.

Sean stopped all twenty-four shots faced in his game, including some point-blank scoring chances, to post his first shutout this season.  

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Paul White of the Sandbaggers. 

Paul has been rock solid on defense, playing a lot of minutes and using his experience to benefit his team. 

Paul had an impact on his team’s win when it mattered, scoring a key tying goal then set up the game winner with twenty seconds to play.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Derrick Power of Black Magic.

Usually under the radar when he plays, Derrick had a statement game, scoring 2-goals, including a big momentum shifting game winning goal.

For one week, Derrick was the best player in all three games, for his hustle and impact.  His hand-eye coordination on his game winning goal, knocking it out of the air, was a great play.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Eddie Chin of the Sandbaggers. 

Eddie broke out offensively in his game, scoring his first goal of the season, and narrowly missed scoring another.

Eddie was all around the net in the first period with his team controlling most of the play, while hustling all game. 

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Colleen O’Connell of Tealsters Union.

Colleen played a strong all-around game, making plays and breaking up scoring chances of the opposition.

Trailing by a goal and the goalie pulled, Colleen made not one but two defensive plays blocking sure goals from going into the open net, giving her team a chance to tie the game.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Sean Roach of White Lies.

With his team needing a momentum boost to end their four-game losing streak, Sean stepped up big time for his shorthanded team.

Stopping 24 out of 26 shots faced, Sean shut the door in the third period in a tie game, stopping all the shots he faced, with some timely saves as his team came back with a big win. 

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Elder Lopes of Royal Family.

Elder stood out and had a big impact in his game, scoring a huge momentum swinging goal late in the second period to get his team back into their game. 

In addition, Elder’s quarterback defensive skills were on display all game, shutting down the opposition’s best players in the third period when it mattered.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Tony Medeiros of Black Magic.

The former Portuguese Power made a surprise visit in his game, scoring a hat trick and was shooting from everywhere, throwing 12 shots on net.  Tony reminded everyone that he still is capable of breaking out on offense with his goal scoring.

His key goal late in the second period, broke open a close game that allowed his team to dominate the third period to put this game away.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Shawn Mulcahy of Royal Family. 

With his team playing in some close games their last two games, Shawn has helped keep the goals scored against his team down by playing some solid defense.

Even though he didn’t factor on the game sheet for points, Shawn played a solid thinking game in helping contain his opponent’s high-powered offense.  

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Lee Nogler of the Sandbaggers.

Lee was a shooting machine in his game, taking 10 shots and scoring 1-goal.  He took advantage of open space to get his shot off.

Lee’s ball control game helped his team pull out a close victory.  

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Jeff Deharo of Royal Family.

Jeff had a break out game in net, and played his best game of the season making timely key saves and was locked in all game. 

Jeff stopped 22 out of 24 shots faced in neutralizing the high-powered offense of the other team.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Steve Iacoviello Tealsters Union.

Playing in different game situations, Ike showed off his hustle and defensive skills, while also jumping into the offense to show off his playmaking skills.

Ike assisted on both of his team’s goals in a close defensive game by both teams.  

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is rookie Mike Duggan of Marooned.

After reading the weekly critics pointing out his lack of scoring goals, Mike answered this by making a statement in his game, by scoring 4-goals and adding 1-assist.

With sixteen goals scored halfway through this season, maybe Mike will once again prove his critics wrong by joining that exclusive 30-goal club.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Nick Romano of Black Magic. 

The old man elevated his game both on offense and defense in making a difference in the outcome of his game.

In an old-fashioned low scoring defensive game by both teams, Nick’s heads up play in the third period set up the insurance goal giving his team some breathing room to close out the victory.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Paul White of the Sandbaggers.

Paul with his team missing it’s top two defenseman, the old veteran stepped up with a vintage performance on defense, taking care of business in his own zone, while the voters recognizing Paul with a third star of his game.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Scott Rosato of Black Magic.

Having a career season in net, Scott has been consistent each week while limiting goals being scored against him by his opponents.

In addition, in close games, Scott will showcase his ability to keep his team either tied or ahead by making those key timely saves when needed by his team.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Naz of the Sandbaggers.

With his team missing its captain, Naz stepped in to fill that role, in addition to playing major minutes for his shorthanded defense.

Naz played shutdown defense while limiting the opponents scoring opportunities.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is rookie Patrick Spencer of Black Magic.

Patrick broke out offensively and had a big impact in his team’s latest win.  After going pointless for the past four games, Patrick broke this game open in the second period by scoring two goals, then capped it off by scoring his third into an open net.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Steve Medeiros of Black Magic. 

He didn’t get his name on the score sheet, but his defensive play throughout the game played a key role in his team’s latest victory.

Steve had a breakthrough performance with his decision making, with the game on the line, as he controlled the ball and avoided the forechecking pressure.  This was the very best game this reporter had ever seen Steve play since joining the league.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Tony Mastrocola of Tealsters Union.

Tony played his best game of the season, hustling all game and scored 2-goals, including the game winner.  It looks like Tony finally has his legs and game back after a prolonged absence from the league.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Dave Giusti of Sandbaggers.

With his team clinging to a one-goal lead, Dave played a big role, especially in the last minute, stopping multiple point-blank scoring chances, as well as stopping every shot before this, to preserve the victory for his team.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Dave Costa of the Sandbaggers.

Dave quarterbacked his team’s defense, playing shutdown defense, as his team only allowed one goal to be scored against them.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Pedro Fontes of Black Magic.

With his team playing shorthanded, Pedro stepped up his game on offense, leading his team back from a one goal deficit in the third period, by scoring a hat trick.

Combine that with a strong defensive effort, Pedro played his best all-around game this season.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Tim Burke of Tealsters Union. 

It helps being a versatile player who can play both forward and defense if asked.

Tim filled in on defense for his shorthanded team with a solid defensive effort.  In addition, Tim added a bonus to his game by scoring his first goal of the season.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is John Mastrocola of Marooned.

After being out the previous couple of weeks with an injury, John returned to action filling in on defense for his team.

John played a lot of minutes while assisting on the game winning goal helping his team earn a valuable point.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Dave Giusti of Sandbaggers.

With his team playing shorthanded, Dave elevated his game in net, giving his team a chance to win the game.  Dave was brilliant in the first period alone, stopping all three clean breakaways he faced, while stopping some point-blank shots throughout the game.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is John Carey of Marooned.

With his team missing two defensemen, John stepped up his game to play some major minutes and quarterback the defense.

After missing the previous two games, Dan came back with an impressive performance in helping his team extend their winning streak to two games. 

Dan scored his team’s first 4-goals, breaking open a close game, and also added an assist.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Gary Wurlitzer of Royal Family. 

Gary scored his first goal of the season while also adding an assist as he factored in two of the three goals his team scored.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Mark Stickney of Tealsters Union.

After missing the past three weeks, Mark returned to action playing a big part in his team’s victory.

Mark scored his first points of the season, scoring the game’s first goal while also adding an assist.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Dale McIsaac of Marooned.

With his team struggling to score goals, and getting pelted by some quality scoring chances from the other team in the second half of this game, Dale kept his team close by coming up with quality saves, keeping this a close game.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Doug Morand of Black Magic.

Playing in only his second game this season, Doug played solid defense and jumped into the offense as needed, while combining with his other defensemen to deny the league’s top goal scorer any goals.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Jason Carrien of White Lies.

For a defenseman to win this weekly award he has to stand out with his performance, and boy did Jason stand out in his game.

Jay was the difference for his team, scoring a hat trick, while also playing quarterback defense, in leading his team to their much needed first win of the season.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Bob Snyder of Tealsters Union. 

Bob played his usual under the radar quiet game on defense, blocking a lot of shot attempts on net, and breaking up multiple opponent stickhandling moves. 

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Don Maccini of Marooned.

The Raggedy Man showcased his playmaking skills as he set up three of his team’s first four goals in helping his team jump out to a commanding lead early in their game.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Sean Roach of White Lies.

Sean finally earned his first win of the season by stopping 36 out of 39 shots faced, making some key timely saves helping his team win their first game of the season.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Ray Dow of Tealsters Union. 

Ray quarterbacked his team while scoring a goal in back-to-back games in helping his team earn a valuable point in the standings.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Mike Duggan of Marooned.

Making a statement in his game, Mike factored in on every goal his team scored in a rout, scoring 

4-goals and adding 3-assists.

It looks like Mike is locked in to not only joining that 30-goal club but just maybe becoming the season’s all-time leading scorer exclusive club of scoring 36-goals in a season.  

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Derrick Power of Black Magic.

Derrick had a big test in his game that he passed with flying colors.  Derrick had to play some major minutes with his team short-handed and he gave a solid all-around effort on offense as well as defense.

His team has made the commitment to give Derrick all the support in seeing him develop into a goal scorer as well as a more complete player.    

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Dave Wilson of the Sandbaggers.

Dave had a big impact in his team’s victory as he was directly involved during the first period with his team jumping out to a four-goal lead.

Just over two minutes into the game, Dave’s hustle set up his team’s second goal and three minutes later, Dave was rewarded by scoring his first goal of the season.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Nelson Sousa.

Nelson was recognized as part of the Nelson Sousa memorial tribute with his family that took place on this day.  It was only fitting that in Nelson’s memory he received this award.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Derek Donegan of the Sandbaggers.

With his team missing three of their defensemen, Derek stepped up and took on more of a quarterback role, playing major minutes, and playing one of the best games since he entered the league.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Paul Sequeira of the Sandbaggers.

Making his return to action, Paul made a big impression, factoring in on 5 of his team’s 6 goals scored, with 2-goals and 3-assists.

Paul stepped up when it mattered, setting up the game tying goal with less than thirty seconds to play, as well as the game winner in OT.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Tony Mastrocola of Tealsters Union.

After a 6-year hiatus, Tony returned to action in the league.

In his second game back playing, Tony records an Over 30 hat trick scoring 1-goal, adding 1-assist and taking a 5-minute misconduct penalty.  Way to kickstart your game Munchkin.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Tony Fosco of the Sandbaggers.

Tony played a major role on his team coming back five times from one goal deficits to win in OT in a high scoring game, as he scored a hat trick.

He almost didn’t have that opportunity as he took a delay of game penalty in OT that gave the opposition a 4-on-3 powerplay.  However, Tony made amends by scoring the game winner off a rebound out front.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Scott Rosato of Black Magic.

Scott followed up his opening day shutout with another strong game in net, stopping 20 out of 21 shots he faced.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Paul Firicano of Black Magic.

Paul was once again solid in his all-around game, playing shutdown defense and major minutes when his team lost two defensemen to injuries.

The Dunkin Donuts Player of the Week award winner is Dominic Defrancisco of Black Magic. 

It took two periods for Dom to finally get his offense into this game, but, when he did, it came at the right time.

Focusing his efforts on the defensive end the first two periods, Dom kicked his game into another level in the third period, turning a close game into a rout, scoring 2-goals and adding 1-assist.

The winner of the Five Guys weekly award is Todd Bryson of White Lies.

Ten weeks after being out on long-term IR with a lower body injury, Todd returned to action.

Coming back healthy to start the new season, Todd gave a good effort on the rink and scored a goal to tie the score late in the second period.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Mike Luise of Royal Family.

Mr. Team USA is under a lot of pressure this season as he takes on the Pink Shirt Challenge and needing to score 6-goals.

Mike showed no effects of the pressure as less than three minutes into his first game he scored a shorthanded goal, then added an assist for good measure.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa Lucky Goalie of the Week award is Dale McIsaac of Marooned.

With his team locked in a low scoring battle and the other goalie stopping all the shots he faced, Dale stepped up his game, stopping 34 out of 35 shots he faced, helping his team earn a tie.

The winner of the Defenseman of the Week award is Steve Silveira of Royal Family. Steve’s two assists on his team’s last two goals played a big part in his team pulling out a victory in a very close game.
