Welcome Backs:
Dave Wilson returns to the league playing full time in his blue #1 XXL Dress with Shockwave.
Steve Silveira is back with a mission to help solidify the defense for Jake-O-Lanterns.
Manny Nunes returns to add to the leagues Portuguese takeover. Once known for his “house of cards” style of play.., look for Manny to add speed and scoring with less drama for his new team.
Back-in-Black
After being knocked out in the finals 5-2 by Olive Pits.., Drama Queens was “Back-in-Black” with their convincing 5-0 shutout win over the Jake-O-Lanterns.
A rejuvenated Joe Carlton started his redemption season with a new line-mate and 2-goals.
After a dismal performance during their championship Donny Maccini was promoted to a winger role (where you typically hide your worst player)… and he managed to get on the scoring sheet with just a single assist despite touching the ball no less that 35-times.
New Jake in Town
If there was every motivation for Jake Deehan to take his game to the next level it’s another goaltender named Jake in the league.
This season Jake Deehan has something to prove to his teammates.., not only do you not want to be the first ever goalie to miss the playoffs for a 3rd straight season with the same team.., but we don’t want to have to choose between a new “Jake from StateFarm” and “Jake put out to a Farm”.
This is a statement year for you Jake.., time to step-up and show the team named after you that you’re ready for a playoff run.
0.00 GAA Start
“New Jake” Jake Brum looked impressive in his Over-30 debut with a 5-0 shutout.
Let’s see if Jake Brum can keep pace with Dave Giusti’s rookie start with 2-Shutouts and a 3rd underway before Matty Iannello took him out for the season.
Electric Chair
Snow White was on their way to the electric chair to get shocked by Shockwave after a 4-0 start by the former #1 seed.., but then a hockey game broke out and actually turned into an entertaining comeback effort.
The difference between Jake-O-Lanterns 4-0 hole and Snow White’s 4-0 deficit was that Snow White didn’t lie down.
Sure we heard both teams grumbling about being down 4-0 and neither Goalie wants to put their team in that position.., but the difference was the forwards for Snow White kept attacking and despite the 6-4 loss actually made it a pretty good game to watch.
League Apologies
The Over-30 League Officials want to extend their sincerest apology to Olive Pits the 2020 Spring Champions. League Officials were so focused on not forgetting the new pre-game thermometer… that they actually left the most important item home.., the Championship Trophy.
There is no truth to the rumor that once Olive Pits was in a commanding lead that league officals concocted a story about leaving the trophy home.., and just left it in the League Director's trunk.
When reporters asked Captain Jim Barber what he thought about the league “forgetting” the trophy at home the Captain just said; “Keep it there… we’ll take two pictures with it in April 9, 2021”
