DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4-22-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to John Kelleher of the Pylons. With playoff seeding on the line, the captain stepped up his game and led by example to enable his team to finish in second place. John scored 2-goals, including the game winner, and also had 2-assists in providing his team with momentum heading into the playoffs. John’s hustle and overall play left a big imprint on this game.

FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4-22-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Dan Broderick of Sour Grapes. With first place up for grabs, and a four game winning streak on the line, the captain quarterbacked his team and made sure that they went into the playoffs with plenty of momentum. Dan’s game plan worked to perfection as they completely shut down the offense of their opponent and employed a smothering fore checking attack that led to a scoring outburst.

DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4-15-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Shawn Miville of Pylons. What is surprising about Shawn winning this week's award is not the fact that he did not have a multiple goal game like usual; rather, that it took 14 weeks during this season for Shawn to get recognized as player of the week. In a big win over the first place team, Shawn played a major impact for his team, scoring a big insurance goal and also with his heads up play in seeing the play develop in front of him and setting up two goals.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4-15-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Tony Mastrocola of Pylons. Tony was ready to play from the opening faceoff, as we noticed that laser sharp focus and intensity on his face. Tony scored a big goal for his team halfway through the game that broke open a tied game. Combine that with Tony's relentless fore checking and constant hustle, Tony's effort kept his team's intensity up the entire game.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4-8-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Dave Costa of Sour Grapes. With the final playoff spot on the line for his team, Dave stepped up and made sure that his team clinched by factoring in on 4 of the 6 goals his team scored in their victory. In the first period, Dave set up his team’s first three goals in building up a commanding lead, and then scored one himself in the third period for good measure. Dave has been relatively quiet this season on the score sheets, but, when his team needed him most, Dave led by example and came through with a big impact.

FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4-8-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Tony Bono of Yellow Submarine. You won’t find Tony’s name on the scoresheet much for his team other than an occasional assist here and there. What you will find with Tony is his versatility that he brings to his team. If his team needs someone to play center, wing or defenseman the call goes out to Tony and Tony doesn’t skip a beat in doing the job. All Tony has to remember is simply get the ball up to Matty! With his team missing two defensemen, including its top defenseman, Tony moved back to lend his veteran skills, stabilize the defense and help his team to a key victory.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4-1-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Angelo Deluca of Sour Grapes. Angelo, aka Kato, was the offense for his team by scoring 2-goals in the first period of his game in their must-win victory. In addition, Kato hit the jackpot a second time during this game in scoring his seventh goal this season, easily smashing that Pink Stick Bag Challenge of 6-goals and making himself and his paisans some easy money in the process. Double congrats Kato as this now guarantees that Naz continues to carry that pink stick bag next season, and that nickname of “Otak” has finally been retired.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 4-1-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Scott Rosato of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. Usually when a goalie gives up 3-goals in a game he isn’t even in the conversation for this award. However, if it was not for the outstanding performance of Scott in net, especially in the first period, his team would have surely lost this game. Scott stopped all 11 shots faced in the first period as his team was badly outplayed and outworked (only generating 2 shots), and kept his team in this game until they found their scoring legs. In addition, late in the third period of a two goal game, Scott came up with the save of the season (maybe the year) reacting on a cross rink pass and making a right toe save preventing a sure goal.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3-25-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Alby Luise of Shark Attack. Alby played his best game of the season, especially in the first period, when he stopped 12 out of 13 shots thrown at him, making that timely save when needed in leading his team to a much needed win and keeping their playoff dreams alive. Alby bricked up the net in stopping 29 out of 30 shots he faced. Alby’s strong play in net motivated the team to finally break out offensively this season in routing their opponent and possibly turning around their season. It was the spark that his team needed!

FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3-25-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to John Colucciello of Shark Attack. Usually it is the Player of the Week award that is given out to a player who makes an “impact” in the games played. This week, the same thinking applies to the Five Guys award. Cooch stepped up big time, scoring 2-goals and added 2-assists. His bomb of a slap shot early in the second period was huge and opened the offensive floodgates for his team. In addition, in only a twenty-three second time span late in the second period, Cooch’s heads up plays were the key plays of this game, as he sent in a team mate for a breakaway goal then scored himself.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3-18-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to a Turtle, Joe Mancinelli of the Pylons. It’ not always speed and quickness that wins hockey games; sometimes slow and steady wins the race. Joe was THE offense for his team, scoring a hat trick (including the game winner in overtime), adding an assist and figuring in on every goal that his team scored. Joe’s alert play late in the second period got his team on the scoreboard and changed the momentum of the game; and his tying goal was a thing of beauty using some hand-eye skills to bat the ball out of mid-air at the side of the net. Who said that old Turtles in the Over-30 league can’t compete with the young hares?
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3-18-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Derek Power of Shark Attack. Derek stepped up this week, and by stepping up we mean was very noticeable playing defense and elevating his game. Derek played a solid defensive game, keeping it simple yet effective in shutting down any scoring threats on his side. Sometimes being a blue collar grunt in the Over 30 league doesn’t get you the recognition, especially playing defense. For this week, Derek earned the spotlight.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3-11-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to George Medeiros of Sour Grapes. Trailing by two goals early in his game, George provided the spark for his team to get back into this game, by scoring 2-goals with some incredible hand-eye coordination in batting the ball into the net. George’s scoring and hustle ignited a four goal outburst by his team as George was the best player on the rink for this game. Unfortunately, a late three goal outburst by the opponent turned a sure victory into a sudden loss for George’s team.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3-11-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Carlos Machado of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. Carlos played a big supporting role for his team in their recent win, as they jumped out to an early two-goal lead, withstood four unanswered goals by their opponent, and completed the comeback with three unanswered goals. Carlos set up his team’s first 3-goals, then scored the shocking game winner with only forty-eight seconds to play, as his excuse me of a shot was going into the corner only to be re-directed off the hand of the defender into the goal. Carlos maybe you should put some fries into the hand of your opponents defenseman as a thank you gesture!
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3-4-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Brian Kehoe of Yellow Submarine. Brian’s seventh goal of the season capped off a first period two minute scoring blitz by his team, enabling them to take control of their most recent victory. Brian played both center and wing and his strong running game and fore checking played a big role in shutting down the offense of his opponent. Brian has quietly climbed up the scoring leaders stats and now finds himself in fourth place overall with 14-points.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 3-4-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Joe Carlton of Shark Attack. Even though his team continues to struggle for wins, Joe has been one of the team’s most consistent players this season. Joe scored the first goal of the game, was running hard all game, and even filling in on defense when needed, to help his team gain a much needed point in the standings.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2-25-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Steve Witkus of the Pylons. Once again it was a player’s “impact” on the game that played a major factor in this week’s winner. Steve scored 2-goals in his game, including the game winner in overtime to lead his team to their third straight win. It was only the second time this season that a defenseman had a multi-goal game. Steve also re-affirmed his status as one of the Over-30 league’s top three franchise defensemen with his quarterback leadership style, quick pinpoint breakout passing, and playing major minutes for his team.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2-25-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Sergio Costa of Sour Grapes. Finally, after five games, Sergio grabbed that damn “no goals” monkey off his back and emphatically kicked it to the sidelines as he scored not once, but, twice in his game. Sergio’s goals played a big factor in his team’s overall offense. One week after being embarrassed by his personal Portuguese barber going out on a limb creating that “Sideshow Serg" fashion look, Sergio grabbed a comb, and went back to a more conventional hairdo look that obviously paid big dividends on his scoring game!
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2-18-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Matty Iannello of the Yellow Submarine. With his team short-handed and locked in a tight game, Matty took it upon himself to lead by example and guide his team to victory. Matty factored in on every goal his team scored, with 2-goals and 4-assists. Matty’s assist with four minutes to play in the third period broke a tie game and his momentum swinging goal two minutes later proved to be the difference in this game.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2-18-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to John Kelleher of the Pylons. After missing the previous two games with a lower body injury, John made the decision to give it a go and play. With his team finding itself in a good old fashioned shootout that saw plenty of goals being scored, John took advantage of this good fortune by scoring 2-goals and adding 1-assist by scoring the game winning goal in overtime leading his team to victory and move into second place in the standings.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2-11-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Pat Pirone of the Pylons. Pat played his best game of the year scoring 2-goals and adding 1-assist, as his key second period unassisted goal ignited his team to score four unanswered goals. Pat had his running game going all game that resulted in forcing turnovers by the other team’s defensemen.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2-11-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Mike Naczas of the Pylons. Let me speak on this! During the week leading up to his game, Naz was being called out as a “deer caught in the headlights” player. Naz let his play on the rink do the talking for him as he played solid shutdown defense, was a plus 3, recorded 1 assist, blocked multiple shots, and even denied the webmaster from scoring into an open net. After that play, Naz was overheard commenting that “Jim had open net sure goal, but wait, here comes the deer and no goal.”
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2-4-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Jeff Deharo of Sour Grapes. Jeff stopped all 21 shots faced to record this season’s first shutout in helping his team record their first win of the season, while making some timely saved along the way.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 2-4-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Mike Surette of Sour Grapes. Big Mike was a presence for his team all game. On defense, Mike played solid position and kept any scoring chances to the outside. On offense, Mike took 4 shots on net. Now if we can just get Mike to learn how to take an actual slap shot, as well as stop trying to set a season record for most delay of game penalties.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 1-28-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Ray Nickerson of Yellow Submarine. No Matty, no personal set up binky for Ray, no problem. The Boss stepped up his game this week factoring in on every goal his team scored with 2-goals, 2-assists, leading the way for his team’s second straight win of the season. Ray’s individual efforts in the last three minutes of this game, turned around a one goal deficit into a win.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 1-28-17 |
This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Jim Barber of Shark Attack. Every so often the Hockey Gods and stars align up perfectly in the Over-30 league, and this was one of those moments. Not only did Jim finally score his first goal of the season (and first in 15 games going back to last season) that ended up being the game winning goal, he helped his team break out of a 9-game losing streak dating back to October 1.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 1-21-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Tony Medeiros of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. Last week it was Dominic, this week Tony. It looks like Tony does not want Dom to think that he is the only impact player on the team. In the final seconds of the first period Tony recieved a pass from Dom and flipped a shot over the shoulder of Alby to start the scoring. Tony had a great game finishing with a hat trick, leading his team to victory and remaining undefeated this season.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 1-21-17 |
| This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Colleen O'Connell of Pylons. Colleen had a what President Trump says "HUGH" impact in the game. Colleen played shut down defense all game and the most important thing shutting down Kato all game. Colleen also had some great shots on net finishing with three for the game.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 1-14-17 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Domenic Defrancisco of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. Picking up right where he left off in making an impact in the finals from last season, Dominic made his impact felt in the first game of the new season, scoring 3-goals and adding 2-assists. Dominic’s signature was all over this game, scoring the key goal that ignited his team scoring five unanswered goals, taking complete control of this game, as well as hustling all over the rink to set the tempo, huffing and puffing up and down the rink.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 1-14-17 |
| This week’s Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Bob Snyder of Yellow Submarine. The oldest rookie in Over-30 history made quite an impact in his first-ever game played in the league, scoring on his very first shot taken. Bob just missed scoring another goal in front and held his own against the veteran players. With his team short-handed up front, Bob played some major minutes in his debut, huffing and puffing up and down the rink.
