Tony, aka “the Munchkin” has earned a reputation as a fiery player who battles every shift on the rink, playing with a lot of intensity. Although small in stature, Tony will play big on the rink and is not afraid to go to the dirty areas of the rink to create a scoring chance or set up a team mate. Tony will not put up big numbers as far as scoring goes, but, he will play with a lot of heart and give you everything he has, every shift. With Tony, you know what you are getting in a player.
Playing now in his 25th season and wearing his familiar number 14, Tony has been consistent and successful over the past 5 years in the Over-30 league, winning 5 championships in the last 10 seasons. A solid second line player, Tony can easily move over and play on the first line with no drop off in production.
Rumors & Facts:
- Once tried to cash in on his nickname of “the Munchkin” by auditioning for a role in “The Wiz”, Michael Jackson’s remake of the Wizard of Oz
- Was part of a class action discrimination lawsuit against Disney for all the signs saying “You must be this tall to ride this ride”
- Is the President of the John Mastrocola Fan Club.
- Was once one of the fastest players in the league, until his bionic hip was inserted.
- Taught little brother John everything he knows about hockey… except scoring goals.
- You can refer to Tony as a Munchin… but he takes offense to Midget, Dwarf, or Little Person.
- He can neither sing nor dance to the song “The Lollipop Guild”… so don’t ask!!
