Five Guys Player of the Week |
| Week #15
Scott Rosato
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Scott Rosato of ReUnited.
One week after having his worst game of the season, Scott bounced back in a big way.
Scott led the way for his team, stopping 29 out of 30 shots faced as they pulled off a major upset and created momentum heading into the playoffs.
Scott was on his game, especially in the second and third periods, making multiple timely saves in a tie game until his team went ahead.
It’s been an up and down season for Scott, especially early on, but seeing the vintage Scott perform could be the difference for ReUnited going deep in the playoffs.

| Week #14
Ed Nigro
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Ed Nigro of Omerta.
Usually overlooked playing defense as the other defensemen on his team stand out and get more attention, Ed stays the course and simply gets the job done.
It must be something about these older relic players on defense; it looks easy getting around them, but they still have the smarts to out think their opponent.
Playing a solid defensive style allows Ed’s defense partner to jump up into the attack.
You may never see Ed near the top of the leading defensemen scorers; what you will see is Ed’s consistency in breaking up all those name players and goal scorers.

Joe Carlton
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Joe Carlton of Gold Miners.
With his team facing the first-place team in a key match-up impacting the standings, Joe stepped up his game.
Not waiting for others to make an impact on offense, Joe got things started scoring the game’s first goal.
Joe finished off a bang bang play from a team mate behind the net to get his scoring game back on track.
In addition, Joe was focused all game long, hustling and putting 7 shots on net.

Jeff Deharo
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Jeff Deharo of Gold Miners.
With points there for the taking to help his team move up the standings, Jeff did his part and was locked in stopping 31 out of 32 shots he faced.
Jeff made some timely saves when his team needed them, especially when this game was tied, giving his team time before they went ahead.
With the only goal scored against him at the halfway point of this game, Jeff made sure to stop everything thrown at him from that point on, to give his team a big boost for the win, while continuing his climb up the goalie GAA list.

Derek Power
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Derek Power of ReUnited.
Since coming into the league, Derek has always adapted. Starting off playing defense, Derek was then moved up front to utilize his speed.
What we are witnessing this season, is Derek further adapting to display his secondary scoring skills to help his team.
Derek set up his team’s second goal then scored a late third period goal to temporarily give his team the lead and big momentum shift.
Derek has always had the legs and running game going; now we are starting to see his scoring hands come out to round out his game.

Jason Glista
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Jason Glista of Loose Cannons.
Jason’s leadership and ball control skills were on display in a key game for first place in the standings.
His head up plays and solid positioning on the rink have noticeably given his Loose Cannons team a tremendous 1-2 punch on defense.
What Jason has been lacking in points production has been superseded by his hockey IQ and defensive skills in helping his team maintain one of the top goals against totals all season long.

Alex Leone
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Alex Leone Top Secret.
After being on long term IR for the first half of the season with a lower body injury, Alex made his long-awaited debut.
Not surprisingly, Alex looked like he had been playing all along, as he gave his team a boost on the defense, playing solid position and attacking the play.
With Alex back, he just gave his team a big boost going into the stretch run.

| Week #8
Jim Osgood
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Jim Osgood Free Agent.
We went outside the box here in acknowledging a former non-roster player for this week’s award.
It has been 15 years since Jim last put on the pads and goalie equipment. After his boast of still being a top goalie, we put him to the test to prove it.
Jim stopped 29 out of 32 shots he faced, made some timely key saves, and helped the Loose Cannons team keep their undefeated streak going at 6-games.
For Jim, he still has it, even if he has trouble getting back up after making a save. We saw his goalie stick get a lot of work, not making the saves but in helping Jim get back on his feet!

| Week #7
Rob Valley
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Rob Valley of ReUnited.
Rob played a lot of minutes on defense, playing a solid game in defensing his zone to help preserve his team’s shutout and get that 0-6 monkey off their backs.
Rob’s positioning on the rink and outlet passes up to open forwards stood out in this game.
Capping of his performance saw Rob score a late third period goal from out near the point.

| Week #6
Niko Vramis
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Niko Vramis of ReUnited.
With his team stuck in a 6-game losing streak, Niko set the example for his team by simplifying his game, doing individually what he needed to do, changing his mindset to just show up and play hard every shift.
Even though Niko didn’t factor on the game sheet, he never gave up on the play, regardless of the score.
Niko played a solid two-way game both defending his zone while fore checking and helping his team generate some quality scoring chances.
Niko’s mindset was contagious as the entire team played hard and mark my words it is only a matter of time now that they put an end to that losing streak.

| Week #5
George Medeiros
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is George Medeiros of Omerta.
With his team missing four players, and only having one sub up front, George played a lot of minutes and was running hard the entire game.
His constant fore checking resulted in only 1-assist, but, forced a lot of defensive turnovers that resulted in goals. George’s effort was a game changer for his team.

Joe Shannon
The winner of the weekly Five Guys award is Joe Shannon.
Motivated by the 30th anniversary season, Joe came out of retirement, after losing weight and resting his tired old body filling in on defense for a player on IR.
Joe set up the game’s first goal, but it was his presence that had a major impact on Top Secret bouncing back from last week’s blowout loss.

Garvin Chan
The first winner of the weekly Five Guys award is rookie Garvin Chan.
The rookie made quite an entrance walking onto the rink, wearing the color blue from head to toe.
That impression carried over into his game as he set up the tying goal as time was winding down in the second period, then scored the game winning goal early in the third period.
