Week of October 18 (Game 1) – Blowout game #1 featured FOURget About-it coming into this game on a three game winning streak and Who Needs Superstars trying to build some momentum off a big win the previous week. Who Needs Superstars did just that in spanking FOURget About-it 5 – 1.
The combination of Mike Luise and Derek Shaw proved too much offense for FOURget About-it to handle in this game. Mike remained on a hot goal scoring streak with his second consecutive multiple goal game as he scored 2-goals, while Derek broke out of a three game scoreless streak by scoring 1-goal and adding 1-assist. Speaking of streaks, team mate Sergio Costa continued his by scoring at least a goal in all seven games he has played this season.
Week of October 18 (Game 2) – Blowout game #2 saw Goodfellas win their third game in their last four games played to keep their hot streak going, as they soundly defeated That’s a Plus by the score of 4 – 1. In the process, they held the Portuguese Power duo of Tony Medeiros and Dominic Defrancisco to only 1-goal scored. Even more impressive for Goodfellas was they won this game missing most of their first line and one of their top defensemen.
Joe Mancinelli played a big role in his team’s offense as he set up three goals, Rick Cassano had a monster all-around game scoring 1-goal and adding 1-assist, while the defensive pairing of Jamie Kehoe and Mario Deluca not only played some shutdown defense, but, each also scored a goal.
Week of October 25 (Game 1) – Finally! Finally, Legends Last Stand got rid of that damn winless monkey off their backs with an emphatic 7 – 2 trouncing over Goodfellas. This was without a doubt their best all-around performance as a team since the season began. With this win, Legends Last Stand kept their playoff hopes alive for this season and served notice that they may just be back in the picture as a contender? Time will tell if this is the case.
Perhaps the return of Anthony Lauletta from IR played a major factor here as his mere presence seemed to elevate the overall play of his team, showing that he himself had not lost his scoring touch with 1-goal and 2-assists. Matty Iannello definitely brought his A-game this week, as he scored 1-goal and set up 3 others, while Ray Nickerson was actually seen running on the rink that resulted in 2-goals scored as well as assisting on another goal. Rookie defenseman John Lasala Jr. continues to develop into a franchise offensive defenseman by scoring 2-goals.
Week of October 25 (Game 2) – In a well-played back and forth game between two evenly matched teams, FOURget About-it jumped back into first place overall with a gritty 4 – 3 overtime win over That’s a Plus. Mark Stickney was the hero of this game with his goal in overtime with just over a minute to play, as his turnaround shot from the right wing boards caught the goalie napping.
After each team scored in the first period, this turned into the John Desmond vs. Tony Medeiros offensive show as each player scored 2-goals. But the best player on the rink for either team was without a doubt Dominic Defrancisco who hustled all over the rink, fore-checking and back-checking, to generate 3-assists. There was just no slowing down Dominic during this game as FOURget About-it had no defensive answer.
Not to be overshadowed here was the solid performance of goalie Scott Rosato of FOURget About-it who faced thirty-two shots in this game, many from point blank range, to keep his team in this game.
