Home Stretch
Here we go… The home stretch is upon us.., the last (5) regular season games.
It’s the best part of any new year as we look forward to Daylight Savings (March 12th), 1st Day of Spring (March 20th), Easter (April 9th), all followed by the 2023 Spring Season Playoffs (April 15th) which is also Mike Luise and Pat Pirone favorite holiday; Tax Day!
This is it.., your last look at your opponents and matchups.., your last attempt at trying to derail history.., your last (5) games to impress the voters for the 2022-2023 Mylec Player of the Year (Shhhhh – not yet) more to follow on that news leak… we have other news to announce this week.
Punching Tickets
The Roadrunners are the 1st team to punch their ticket to the big dance.., well that used to be a big deal, but now everyone makes the playoffs, so even the ugly ones and the last ones picked for a dance have a chance to be the prom King & Queen (as we saw last season with Captain's Mutiny)
Instead of the odd 5th team missing the playoffs.., Now the prize is one of the two BYE's for the first week of the playoffs (or is it?). Last season both top teams with the BYE showed up the following week and was upset with a loss.
The #1 seed is locked up for the Roadrunners. Dominic DeFrancisco and his team are still perfect after the first two thirds of the season. They have eluded every ACME trap and fake tunnel walls (so far).., but surely at least one team has it in them to try and prevent the inevitable perfect season.
Remember when it was the opposite for Coach's Corner and they didn’t win a game all season (except for the last one) when they beat Gang Green.., and who was the Gang Green Captain (do you remember?).., That’s right Dominic DeFrancisco.
Now the question is with 5-weeks left... "Who's going to be the #2 seed?"
Off the Radar
Look who finally showed up for the party… Sergio Costa and Pat Pirone who were both MIA for so long that we didn’t even notice they were gone.
Our guess is that they are both vying for the new “Under the Radar” award.., by not appearing on the radar to begin with.
Welcome back gentleman its good to see you back in action. Impressive Performance
Last week’s matchup between Vulcan Grip and Roadrunners was actually a pretty good game. John Kelleher must have told his troops to stay cool and not panic.., because for the most part they shut down the high-powered offense. If fact, they took them into the 3rd period only down 1-goal. It was a most impressive performance by Vulcan Grip
Steve Taddonio showed a little crack in the armor as he was giving up some juicy rebounds.., the problem was, there wasn’t a Vulcan Grip player anywhere near them to stuff them in. You hear us (other teams not named Roadrunners).., get in tight on Steve for those juicy rebounds.
Speaking of in-tight on the goalie crease., who in their right mind had the 40:1 odds prop bet at the new WynnBET Sportbook that Mike Cresta would have a nice tip in goal on Steve? Only someone using a crystal ball and burning incense could have seen that one coming.
The Decision
First LeBron James made a big deal about it back in 2010 when he aired “The Decision” to take his talents to Miami.
Now Mike Duggan has made his “Decision” and it looks like he’s not going for the 20/20 Club and instead will focus his efforts on taking a run at 30-goals to become only the third player in the leagues now 31-year history to do so.
He’s played 9-games and scored 20-goals.., and with 5-games left, you do the math.
Good luck Mike… and remember;
