Meet Paul Correia
Not sure if all of you know Paul Correia but here is a Bio of who Paul is!! Paul Corriea is 52 years old. Paul is a proud father to Christian Corriea age 11, bother to Debbie Gomes, Tony Corriea and son of Connie and Antonio Correia. Paul is also proud uncle to Gianna, Angelina, Correia and Kaylin and Jacob Gomes. Paul is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Paul is that guy you call when you get stuck on the side of the road at 3 am, or need to get bailed out of jail, or need help moving, or need a ride to wherever, it could be a 10-minute drive or a 3-hour drive, he would be right there to help you in any way he could. Paul would do anything for anyone. He is truly a great person and has been handed the worst of luck.
Paul one day had some pain in his shoulder and didn't think anything of it; thought it was just an injury or pulled something in his shoulder. Paul let it go for a day and waited for the next day and the pain was still there and getting worse. Here is where it turned for the worst. Paul was having a stroke on his left side of his body. If he only knew. Paul was semi paralyzed on his left side of his body. Paul has had some impressive recovery but still struggles with lots of mobility with his left side of his body. Paul is confined to a wheelchair and can't swallow any food or drink, but that don't stop him. He still goes out to hockey games, he will go watch his son Christian play ice hockey, watch his nieces and nephews ball games or anything they are doing. Paul is there to support them in any way possible! I could keep going on and on about what kind of guy he is!! But I'll let it be at that...
Paul will be there on Sunday and hopefully today. We will have a little ceremony for all at the end of the jamboree Sunday. I hope you can all stay and see us play and meet him, as we honor him as a league but more importantly as individuals.
Tony Medeiros Paul's cousin!!

The Over-30 league would like to thank all its Jamboree players and players in the league who donated to all the fund raising efforts and events in helping to raise money for Paul. Your contributions are appreciated and once again shows how the Over-30 league is a family that will always step up to help out a family member.
The league sponsored four different fund raising events from January - May of 2023 to raise money for Paul. These included the league donating a free spring season registration, a bowling night at Derby Lanes in Salem at American Flatbread, a golf outing of 72 players at the Peabody Meadows golf course, and finally the Paul Correia Jamboree.
A special acknowledgement and recognition to the following individuals for your generous donations in helping Paul out:
- Ed Nigro's donation of two Bruins tickets for a regular season game
- Joe Shannon's $1,000 donation on behalf of his son Nick Shannon
- Tony Medeiros' generous $12k donation from the golf outing
- Over-30 league players $5,000 donation from the free spring season registration, bowling night and Jamboree
Thank you all,
Bill Abcunas
Director - Over 30 league

- Each team will consist of a total of 8 players (4 forwards, 3 defensemen, 1 goalie).
- Jamboree playing format will be 4-on-4.
- Each team is guaranteed 3 round-robin games.
- Top 4 teams after the qualifying games will move on to the playoffs.
- Each game will consist of one 20-minute (running-time) period with the last 1 minute consisting of stop time.
- No timeouts.
All Over-30 league rules will be in effect (lob rule in effect). Only exception is the entire perimeter netting around the rink is in play - "Play It"; if the ball is shot into the netting, no delay of game penalty will be called.
All penalties will result in penalty shots. The opposing player directly impacted by the penalty call shall be designated to take the penalty. If the penalty results in a “non-direct” infraction on another player (delay of game, unsportsmanlike conduct, misconduct, etc.), the opposing team captain can designate any player on the rink to take the penalty shot.
All penalty shots shall result in stop time.
If the same player receives 3 penalties in the same game, said player will be removed from the game.
If teams both receive matching penalties, each team will play 3-on-3 for a minute and a half. Said penalized players will serve this time in their respective penalty box.
All round robin games that end in ties after 20 minutes shall remain a tie. No overtime will be played.
Team standings will be determined by the following:
Wins = 10 points
Ties = 5 points
Loss = 0 points
Team tied in the standings will be determined by the following tie breakers:
Most points
Most wins
Fewest losses
Head-to-head records
Fewest goals against total
Most goals for total
Head-to-head goals against
Head-to-head goals for
Playoff games will feature the following playing format:
1st place team playing the 4th place team
2nd place team playing the 3rd place team
The two winning playoff teams will play in the Finals.
- Playoff games that end in a tie after 20 minutes will move to alternating penalty shots by each team. The first team to score wins, as long as the other team has been given an equal chance to score (if your team has taken a penalty shot and missed and the other team follows and scores on their penalty shot, the game is over).
- The same player cannot keep taking the penalty shot
Jamboree committee will include Kellie and Ed Nigro, with Bill consulting.
