Playing in his 34th season, Mike is solidly entrenched in the number 4 spot in the Old-Time Hockey Over-30 all time career stats list with over 700 total points scored during his career. A blue color working type of center, Mike will never dazzle you with his speed or flashy moves. However, what you can always depend on Mike to impress you with is his consistency and point production each game and every season. You will always find Mike consistently in the top 10 leading scorers of the Over-30 league.
Always ranked as a top first line center for the Over-30 league draft, his style is straight ahead at full speed (we didn’t say fast speed as Mike has more of a huff and puff speed) and slightly unorthodox in appearance, but, it gets the job done and generates results. You can count on Mike to play the game until the whistle and compete with the same intensity, regardless of the score.
With 6 Championship jackets earned, Mike is tied with multiple others for fourth place overall in jackets won. Playing in only his second full season, Mike went on to win back-to-back championships while playing for the Grumpy Old Men team. However, it was his performance with the J.A.F.H.T. team, during the winter 2010 season that Mike truly stood out as a leader and performer. It was during this season that Mike emerged as a team leader and fill-in captain, leading his team from a horrendous start to qualify for the playoffs and winning his most recent jacket.
Rumors & Facts:
- He often complains every year that he has no help on any Over-30 League team he is a part of
- Will occasionally have to miss multiple league games due to his son’s crazy youth hockey schedules conflicting with his Over-30 league games
- Always requests shirt number 4 and will always plead his case as a veteran and important player in the Over-30 league against another veteran player to get his demands met
- Mike and brother Alby Luise are twins
- Just remember not to mention to Mike his nemesis team of the Peabody Warriors who routinely defeated his Team USA and dashed many a playoff hope for Mike in Hockeytown’s Monday night league. To this day Mike still has nightmares and starts shaking uncontrollably whenever someone mentions that team name to him.
