DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 12-15-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donut winner goes to Tony Medeiros of Coach's Corner. Facing a must win situation to advance to the playoffs, Tony saved his best for the last game of the season as he channeled his inner Portuguese Power to make the biggest plays of his game. With his team clinging to a one goal lead late in the third period, Tony provided his team with a huge momentum swing on a slap shot bomb goal out near the point. Prior to this, Tony made the key pass late in the second period setting up his team mate to break open a close game and give his team a two goal lead.

FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 12-15-18 |
| This week's Five Guys award winner goes to Steve Medeiros of the Rhinos. Steve played his best all-around game this season in sparking his team's goal scoring outburst, turning a close game in the first period into a rout as he jumped into the offense from the point and roofed a shot from the high slot past the goalie. Steve also played solid position in his defensive zone throughout his game, blocking a lot of shots in the process.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 12-8-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Angelo Deluca of Coach's Corner. After watching his blue collar team mate step up last week to lead the team's offense in the first of three must win games, Angelo channeled his inner Kato to make the key plays of the game breaking open a close tied game and scoring 2-goals five minutes apart. Angelo's heads up individual plays and decision making swung the momentum in favor of his team setting up a win or tie scenario next week to make the playoffs.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 12-8-18 |
| This week's Five Guys award winner goes to Todd Bryson of Coach's Corner. With his team facing another must win game and only scoring 1-goal in his last five games, Todd played his best game of the season and made an impact by setting up 3-goals, directly invovled in setting up the two key goals of the game. Todd's old time hockey style of play by going to the front of the net paid off big time for his team.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 12-1-18 |
| This week's co-Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Tony Bono of Coach's Corner. With Coach's Corner needing to run the table and win 3 straight games to get into the playoffs, it took a grunt blue collar worker to emerge and lead the way. With only 1-assist all season, Tony stepped his team in the right direction with a 1-goal and 2-assist effort, factoring in on every goal his team scored by setting up the game's first two goals then scored the game winner on a bang bang play out front.
| This week's co-Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Matty Iannello of Mixed Nuts. Matty led the way as playmaker for his team to keep their winning streak alive at 3 games and in the process move back into first place overall in the standings by factoring in on the first four out of five goals his team scored, with a 1-goal and 3-assist effort. In addition, the scoring outburst by the Great One moved him back on top of the leading scorer's race where he has reigned over 13 titles in the past 22 seasons.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 12-1-18 |
| This week's Five Guys award winner goes to Gary Goodwin of Mixed Nuts. With his team loaded with offensive talent, Gary has been a benefactor by having a productive season on offense while also stepping in to play some defense when needed. Gary socred his team's first goal in the first period then set up a big insurance goal early in the third period while fore checkign and back checking the entire game.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-24-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Dominic Defrancisco of Gang Green. The rule of thumb for this weekly award is no repeat winners during the season. However, with this week's winner an exception was made. Leaders lead and others follow. With his team missing 4 players, Dominic led the way as captain for his team putting an end to his team's 6-game losing streak by scoring 2-goals. His first goal tied up the game in the third period as he stick-handled around three players from the corner. His game winner in overtime exorcised those demons haunting his team for the past 6 games. Dominic's singular effort all game long may just have been the turning point of saving his team's season and playoff aspirations.

FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-24-18 |
That's right Cooch you better keep your hands down by your sides! |
| This week's Five Guys award winner goes to John Colucciello of Gang Green. For the past 6 games there hasn't been much to celebrate for Cooch and his team. Facing the very real fact that he will probably fail his pink stick bag challenge, Cooch scored a huge goal with just under two minutes to play to tie the game, bringing life back to his team as they play for their playoff lives. Cooch then followed that up with a heads up play less than a minute into overtime to set up the game winning goal, helping put an end to his team's 6-game losing streak.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-17-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Matt Farrell of Black Hole. After being out the last couple of games with a lower body injury, Matt came back in a big way, scoring a hat trick with goals scored in each period, leading all shoters with 8 shots taken, helping his team clinch a playoff spot in a blowout win.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-17-18 |
| This week's Five Guy winner goes to Jason Carrien of Black Hole. Usually this award goes to the "blue collar" players who don't show up on the score sheet. This week, we are standing up to the voters of the Player of the Week award for a shameful injustice of not recognizing Jason for at least a co-winner of that award. His "impact" and "performance" were unquestioned as he scored the game's first goal, set up the second goal, scored the third goal and then set up the fourth goal. Factoring in on 4 of his team's 6 goals scored. All that impact and playing 28 out of 30 minutes in the game, and limiting the opponent to only 1 goal against. To the voters of that other weekly award we again say shame on you on your blatant collusion against a highly deserving player!
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-10-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Sergio Costa of Black Hole. Sergio's direct impact in his game was without question throughout as he factored in on every goal his team scored with 1-goal and 4-assists, especially in the third period that broke open a close game with a three goal outburst. Here we were thinking that Sergio would have major binky withdrawals not having George Medeiros on his line; instead, look who sits atop the leading scorers this week, which begs the question "can you smell what the Serg is cooking?"
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-10-18 |
| This week's Five Guys award winner goes to Steve Iacoviello of Black Hole. Steve doesn't show up much on the game sheet with points; however, what he brings each and every game is a solid, steady defensive presence for his team, playing shutdown defense usually against the opponenet's top line. Pay close attention as you are witnessing a breakout season by Steve on defense.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-3-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Mike Luise of Black Hole. After only putting up 1 assist in his first six games, Mike broke out in a big way, factoring in on every goal his team scored except two, scoring a hat trick and adding 2-assists. Mike's second goal late in the third period provided some insurance breaking this game open, then followed that up with his third goal with less than a minute to play to seal the victory for his team.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-3-18 |
| This week's Five Guys winner goes to goalie Dave Guisti of Coach's Corner. Dave played a major role in backstopping his team for their long overdue first win of the season. Dave stopped 33 out of 35 shots thrown at him, giving his team a big lift by making timely save after timely save. Looks like the adjustments Dave made to his goalie mechanics a few weeks ago are paying off for himself and his team.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-27-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Nick Romano of Coach's Corner. Sometimes complaining does actually work about not being respected and acknowledged, as long as you go out and back it up with performace. Such was the case with Nick as he has complained there was a voting conspiracy against him on not winning a weekly award. Nick helped put an end to his team's losing streak in a big way by scoring 2-goals and impacting the outcome of his game.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-27-18 |
| This week's Five Guys winner goes to John Mastrocola of Coach's Corner. Out on IR and going stir crazy from not playing for four straight games and help turn his team's fortunes around, John came back with a vengeance, setting up two goals and bringing the running game back for his team. For one game, John silenced those comments of "release him" from the active roster due to his non-playing status. Welcome back John!
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-20-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donuts winner goes to George Medeiros of the Rhinos. George had a big impact on his team's recent win, scoring his team's first goal early in the second period getting them back into their game, setting up the key go ahead goal early in the third period, then scoring an insurance goal late in the game. More and more, George's hustle always leads to his team either scoring a goal or generating scoring chances.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-20-18 |
| This week's Five Guys winner goes to Tony Bono of Coach's Corner. With his team missing some forwards, Tony stepped up and provided a running game for his team. Tony also added some ball control to his game by making plays with the ball. We will just remind Tony that when someone passes you the ball out front with a wide open net you SHOOT a one timer not stop the ball, hold it, let the goalie get into position, then shoot it into him!
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-13-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Jeff Deharo of Black Hole. Jeff had a statement weekend as he played back-to-back games, faced 58 total shots and stopped 56 of them. Jeff was locked in during his game making timely key saves to lead his team, putting an end to their two game losing streak. His "flash the pad" save late in the second period was a thing of beauty and so far the save of the season.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-13-18 |
| This week's Five Guys award winner goes to Pat Pirone of Gang Green. After playing last season on a bad leg and looking like a shell of his former self, Pat dedicated the off season to working out, getting stronger, and losing weight. His hard work has been rewarded. Even though Pat did not record a point in his game, his hustle and play around the net generated scoring chances for his team and himself. Pat's play early on has played a role in his team's surprising start to the season.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-6-18 |
| This weeks Dunkin Donut winner goes to Tim Hickey of Mixed Nuts. After missing the entire month of September, Tim made his highly anticipated debut and did not disappoint in delivering as he scored 2-goals and added 2-assists, as he made his impact felt by factoring directly into most of the goals his team scored. We won't mention not deducting any votes when Tim tripped over his own feet with no one else around him!
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-6-18 |
| This weeks Five Guys winner goes to Bob Snyder of Black Hole. One of the one third 50+ hockey dinosaurs of the Over-30 league was asked to step up big time on defense, with his team missing four players. Bob was asked to play most of the game. Bob made some solid plays on defense in imiting the opponents scoring chances to the perimeter, while making some heads up passes.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-29-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donuts winner goes to Mauro Colucciello of Mixed Nuts. Maybe we chose the wrong Colucciello brother for this season's Pink Stick Bag Challenge? Playing in only his second game this season, Mauro broke out offensively, scoring 2-goals, including ther game winner early in overtime. Apparently Mauro has given his team a scoring option by taking some of that pressure off his captain, unlike his brother Cooch.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-29-18 |
| This week's Five Guys winner goes to Shawn Wyatt of Black Hole. He may not be flashy or his team's most skilled player, but, Shawn definitely made his presence felt in his game. His hustle, fore-cecking and physical style of play in the first period alone resulted in him setting up the game's first goal. Shawn has been bringing more skill into his game by simply "making plays" when he gets the ball rather than just dump it in and go get it. Could we be witnessing a breakout season for Shawn? Time will tell.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-22-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donut winner goes to Shawn Miville of the Rhinos. Shawn had quite a game as he was hearing therumors how he hadn't scored a goal this season after two games. Putting an end to these rumors, Shawn broke out offensively, going back to his first stick used in the Over-30 league a few seasons back, scoring 2-goals including the game winnerwhile throwing 12 shots on net. His game winning goal was a pure snipers goal setting up the goalie far side then roofing his shot top corner short side.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-22-18 |
| This week's co-Five Guys winner goes to Ed Nigro of Gang Green. Ed had quite a game as he scored the game winning "rocket" goal as well as also playing some shut down defense in helping his team win their second consecutive game. We really can't remember the last time that Ed actually scored a goal in the Over-30 league it has been that long. What we do know is that Ed still needs to score another goal to catch up to Colleen, who still has more goals than Ed since she started playing in the league!
| This week's other co-Five Guys award winner goes to Derrick Power of the Rhinos. The league asked Derrick during the off season to change his position and move from defense to forward. Its a big adjustment for any player to change positions, but, Derrick has handled it well. His efforts finally were rewarded as he scored a key goal in his game to help his team comeback again and win their second straight game. For Derrick, it was his second career goal in the league since he joined the league a few years back.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-15-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donut winner goes to Jim Barber of Black Hole. Nope, don't adjust your computer screen, it's true. We also thought we were hallucinating. Jim scored a hat trick, scoring a goal in each period, as he led his team to a convincing win. We believe that this is the first-ever hat trick that Jim has ever had in the Over-30 league. After his game, we caught up to Jim and asked him why the sudden scoring outburst? Jim responded "as captain I delegated my team's defensemen responsibilities to my assistant captain which freed me up on offense to become the goal scorer I knew I always was."
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-15-18 |
| This week's Five Guys winner goes to Alex Leone of the Rhinos. Now this is how you start off your season in your first game played and make an immediate impact! With his team down a goal in the third period and heading to their second consecutive loss, Alex stepped up and scored a goal a minute after the other team scored, then set up the winning goal with just over two minutes to play, while playing shut down defense to seal the win.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-8-18 |
| This week's Dunkin Donut winner goes to Dominic Defrancisco of Gang Green. Not affected by any "loss of binky syndrome," Dominic threw down the Portuguese gauntlet for everyone to see (hello Tony) with resounding emphasis in scoring 2-goals (including the game winner) and adding 1-assist, in leading his team to victory to start the new season. Looks like Dominic is determined to claim that Portuguese Power title this tear!
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-8-18 |
| This week's Five Guys winner goes to Ron Aquino of Mixed Nuts. The Flyin Hawaiian carried over his personal scoring production from the MISI league by playing a key role in his team's offense, doing the hard work of setting up his team's first two goals. Ron's efforts went a long way in his teamkick starting the new season with a comeback win.
