DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 12-3-16 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to John Leite of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. When it mattered most, with his team needing nothing less than a win to make the playoffs, the Codfather John Leite, made a difference playing his best all-around game this season. John figured in on both of his team’s goals, scoring the game winner in the third period and setting up the first goal, to clinch the final playoff spot for his team. Heading into the playoffs, the Codfather let it be known that opponents need to be aware of the Portuguese Power Trio and not the Duo!

FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 12-3-16 |
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Alex Leone of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. With the season on the line and needing a win to qualify for the playoffs, Alex stepped up big time, reliving his East Boston tournament days from years past. With the team’s number one defensemen unable to continue in the first period, Alex jumped into that role and played some major minutes for his team to stabilize the defense and do whatever it took to win this game. Alex also assisted on the game winning goal to contribute to his team’s offense.

DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-26-16 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to George Medeiros of Sour Grapes. Week in and week out we continue to be impressed by George’s hustle and effort, which has paid off as he is tied for his teams lead in points and leads the team with goals scored. George kept his good fortune going by repeatedly going into the dirty area in front of the net to score 2-goals to lead his team to their third straight win and solidify their playoff position.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-26-16 |
| This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Derek Power of Shark Attack. You won’t notice Derek anywhere on this week’s game sheet, but that doesn’t diminish the impact he had. Derek was playing solid defense, preventing any goals against when he was suddenly shifted up to forward due to a player injury on his team. Derek’s hustle, energy and strong play along the boards were on display in both the offensive and defensive zones of the rink as he tried to spark his team.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-19-16 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Dominic Defrancisco of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. Once again factoring in to the equation the “impact” factor, Dominic was the energizing force for his team with his hustle and leadership, scoring 2-goals and adding 3-assists pacing his team to a must win game and staying alive in the playoff race. Even though Dominic was closely covered in this game, he still found open space to do what he does best and create scoring chances.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-19-16 |
| This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Mauro Colucciello of Shark Attack. With his team struggling for wins and points to still make the playoffs, Mauro did his part to wake up his team with some much needed energy late in the second period, scoring 2-goals and turning a deficit into a lead for his team. Prior to Mauro’s impact, his team was playing lethargic and lacking desperation. It was Mauro’s effort that turned around the fortunes for his team and earned them a much needed point in the standings.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-12-16 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Anthony Lauletta of the Pylons. There were a lot of multiple point and goal scorers this week to choose from, but, as stated in a previous week’s award, it was the player’s impact that swung the votes in his favor. Anthony scored 2-goals (his 5th in only four games played this season), including the game winner, in helping his team remain in second place in the standings while handing Yellow Submarine their second loss of the season.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-12-16 |
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Steve Medeiros of Sour Grapes. Steve played his best game of the season for Sour Grapes, controlling the ball in his defensive zone along with solid positioning, while taking the most shots on net of any defenseman this week with four. Steve’s heads up plays in keeping the ball in the offensive zone led to some quality scoring chances for his team in winning their second game in a row.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-5-16 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Shawn Miville of the Pylons. This is Shawn’s second Player of the Week award this season. Shawn scored 2-goals, including the game winner, to lead his team to a big victory and jump into second place in the standings. Shawn was a one-man offensive force this game, taking 10 shots on net (1/3 of his team’s totals) as he kept getting open for scoring chances while enjoying the shooting practice.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 11-5-16 |
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Jason Glista of Sour Grapes. It only took him 9 games to do it but Jason finally scored his first point of the season while playing solid defense. Jason’s goal came at the right time as it turned into the game winning goal and handed Yellow Submarine their first loss of the season. We won’t mention how Jason scored his goal against his wife Sandra who was filling in playing net, nor how he shot it from the parking lot of the Walmart across Route 1.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-29-16 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Ray Dow of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. With all these scorers on offense in the league, it was a defenseman who stole the spotlight. The real number 5 figured in on every goal except one that his team scored, netting 1-goal and assisting on 4 others. His team needed all those points too as they found themselves in a wild shootout of a game. Ironically it was Ray sending out a premonition text before the game, informing the voters of this award “since he didn’t have the money to buy himself a cup of coffee today, this might just be the day he could use a Dunkin Donut gift card!”
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-29-16 |
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Colleen O’Connell of the Pylons. Yes, that's right the Girl damn it! Once again showing that she can play with the guys and even play better than some of the guys, Colleen played solid defense and position in shutting down the opposition. Her heads up play on the blue line kept the ball in that directly resulted in her team scoring a key goal. In addition, Colleen had three open shots on net, which some of the guys can learn that it is more important to actually get your shot on net rather than have your shot miss the net and reverberate loudly when it makes contact with the boards.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-22-16 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Carlos Machado of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. Usually, this award is given out to that one player who scores the most points or posts a shutout. Every once in a while, the “impact moment” overrules all of that. Such was the case with Carlos. With his team trailing 3-0 and heading to a loss, Carlos stepped up and changed all that with his impact moment in the last minute of the second period. In twenty-four seconds, Carlos scored 2-goals and then watched his efforts lead to the tying goal only sixteen seconds later. His moment changed this game and team fortunes earning them a well earned tie.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-22-16 |
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Ed Nigro of Yellow Submarine. For one game, Ed stepped up and became that shut down franchise defenseman, playing some solid defense, making smart outlet passes, blocking shots, getting into the passing lanes to break up plays, and even adding an assist. Simply put, Ed stood out on the rink and for one week, he was the “real # 7” and best defenseman on the rink.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-15-16 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Tony Medeiros of 11 Guys, 1 ball. Tired of his team stuck in a four game losing streak, the Portuguese Power took it upon himself, with his team playing short-handed, to lead the way and put an end to that streak. Tony factored in on every goal his team scored, recording 3-goals and adding 2-assists. Just when you all think the Portuguese Power has disappeared, he shows back up!
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-15-16 |
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Scott Rosato of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. Playing a big supporting role in his team putting an end to a four game losing streak, Scott only allowed one goal, stopping 30 out of 31 shots in the process. Scott’s timely saves was a big confidence boost for his team as his goals against average has been steadily declining over the past four weeks.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-8-16 |
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Dave Costa of Sour Grapes. Dave made his official welcome back game into the Over-30 league with an impressive impact game as he factored in on every goal his team scored, scoring 2-goals and adding 1-assist to lead his team to their long overdue first win of the season.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-8-16 |
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Umberto “Papa Smurf” Biancardi of Yellow Submarine. In a game where the go-to offensive players on his team were completely covered and struggling for offense, Papa stepped up and had his Great One key moment, scoring 2-goals that led his team to their fifth straight win and remain undefeated this season.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-1-16 |
Week#6 (10-1-2016)
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Brian Kehoe of Yellow Submarine. Brian had a breakout performance with his team playing short-handed, playing most of the game, factoring in on every goal his team scored, scoring a goal and adding 3-assists, in helping his team remain undefeated. For one game, Brian was the Great One! When we spoke to the actual Great One (Matty I) for a comment he informed us “he may be the next Great One once he learns to finish better.”
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10-1-16 |
Week#6 (10-1-2016)
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Tony Mastrocola of the Pylons. Tony played one of his best games we have seen from him this season, scoring the game’s first goal, fore checking and back checking equally as hard, determined to make something positive happen for his team. Tony set the pace for his line, every time he was on the rink.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-24-16 |
Week#5 (9-24-2016)
This week's Dunkin Donut winner goes to Joe Carlton of Shark Attack. With his team struggling to find their game and needing a win, Joe stepped up this week by figuring in on the first three goals his team scored, scoring once and assisting on two others, as Joe had his first multiple point game of the season.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-24-16 |
Week#5 (9-24-2016)
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to goalie Jake Deehan of the Pylons. As a rookie goalie in the Over-30 league, Jake won his first game, moved into second place overall in the goalie race, and looks like he has found his comfort zone. Jake was impressive in playing back-to-back games while stopping 29 out of 30 shots in his game, and 28 out of 30 shots in the first game.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-17-16 |
Week#4 (9-17-2016)
This week's Dunkin Donut winner goes to Ray Nickerson of Yellow Submarine. Ray had an impact game for his team, not with his goal scoring but with his rink awareness and set-up game, as he assisted on four out of his team's five goals scored. Ray played a key role in his team scoring three goals in the last four minutes of the game to pull out the victory and remain undefeated.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-17-16 |
Week#4 (9-17-2016)
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes outside the norm and awards this to free agent goalie Sandra Glista. For the second consecutive week, Sandra has filled in playing back-to-back games in the league. In the the five games Sandra has filled in so far this season, she owns a very respectable 2-2-1 record with a 3.40 goals against average and a .880 save percentage.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-10-16 |
Week#3 (9-10-2016)
This week’s Dunkin Donut winner goes to Shawn Miville of the Pylons. After two weeks of play in the Over-30 league we were hearing comments of "what’s wrong with Miv, he’s not scoring points?" The reality is there is nothing wrong as Shawn broke through offensively with a big performance in pacing his team to their first win of the season, scoring 3-goals and adding 3-assists to factor in on all but one of the goals his team scored. Any more questions people?
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 9-10-16 |
Week#3 (9-10-2016)
This week’s Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Steve Witkus of the Pylons. This was Steve’s first game played this season and his presence was immediately felt throughout this game as he provided quarterback leadership, rink awareness and shutdown defense to help stabilize his team’s overall defense. Steve’s overall play was a big factor in his team getting that first win of the season.
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 8-27-16 |
Week#2 (8-27-16)
This week's Dunkin Donut winner goes to Tim Hickey of Yellow Submarine. Tim stopped all twenty-three shots he faced in this game in posting the league's first shutout of the season. Even more impressive was the fact that this came in only his second game played as goalie in the league. Looks like Tim has set the bar high for his fellow goalie brotherhood!
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 8-27-16 |
Week#2 (8-27-16)
This week's Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner goes to Shawn Wyatt of 11 Guys, 1 Ball. With time winding down and his team needing a spark, Shawn's deflected turnaround shot from the right wing caught the goalie by surprise, tying the game. Inspired by Shawn's efforts, only seventeen seconds later the team scored again to pull off the comeback win from a two-goal deficit. Who says a lunch pail blue collar player can't also be a leader?
DUNKIN DONUT PLAYER OF THE WEEK 8-20-16 |
Week#1 (8-20-16)
The first Dunkin Donut winner of the winter 2016 season is Joe Shannon of Shark Attack. No captain present to run his team, no worries, as Joe stepped up and showed everyone that "he runs this squad." After being unable to play the past two years due to a severe core injury, Joe showed everyone he is back as one of the premier quarterback defensemen in the league. Joe scored 1-goal and added 2-assists while controlling the defensive zone.
FIVE GUYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK 8-20-16 |
Week #1 (8-20-16)
The first Five Guys Lunch Pail Gang Award winner of the winter 2016 season goes to John Carey of Yellow Submarine. Now that John has gotten a previous season under his belt as well as recovered from a lower body injury he looks much more comfortable on the rink. John had 1-assist, took 5-shots on net and played solid defense for his team in their opening game.
