Way to go Mr. Impatient…, you not only jinxed the night..., but you also jinxed the entire week of hockey.
Our advice to the Black Magic winners…, make sure your coffee lids are on tight when you get your free (but potentially jinxed) coffee.
2023-2024 Tax Rebate
Last week’s carbon monoxide Hockeytown evacuation cancelled all of Week#14 games from the 2023 Winter Season Schedule…, as a result all players will be getting a 2023 tax credit on their 2024 Spring Season dues.
It seems Hockeytown owners are reading the Forum and they too want to help the Over-30 League “Give back” to the players.
The final tax credit has yet to be calculated and if you quit the league, (sorry) but you don’t get the earned tax credit back.
Fantasy Hockey Week
With the ALD jinxing Week #14 and thus voiding the entire week (like it never happened) we’ll have to play last week’s games out via “Over-30 Fantasy Hockey” using the latest in Draft Kings AI technology to determine what could have been the game’s outcome.
4:30PM White Lies vs Black Magic
This game was actually underway with 2:54 to play in the second period.
Dave Norton scored to make it 1-0 followed by Tony Medeiros who scored a weak garbage goal to make it 1-1.
After the 3-hour delay to “clear the air”…, both teams played a little sluggish from the Carbon Monoxide effect as they finished the 2nd period 1-1.
It wasn’t until Pedro Fontes after blowing past the now stiffened up Dan Broderick that he was able to beat Sean Roach top corner to make it 2-1 with 4-minutes to play.
With just 30-seconds left to play George Medeiros, who was being beaten up physically by Dominic DeFrancisco all game…, finally got his revenge and beat Dominic cleanly on a draw that went right to Dave Norton who used his one-timer blast to tie the game 2-2.
Both teams started their best 3-players for the 3-on-3 and like Yogi Berra once said “it’s like déjà vu all over again” as Jason Carrien rips a shot from his own zone to beat Scotty Rosato again in overtime.
8:30PM Sandbaggers vs Tealsters Union
Rob Sheridan waited patiently in the parking lot until 8:30PM when the Saugus FD gave the all-clear. Rob couldn’t wait to use his brand new stick..., but unfortunately “Dr Rob” did nothing with it…, the only way Rob’s new stick made it onto the scoring sheet was from his slashing penalty on Paul Sequeira who had the GWG as a result of Rob’s penalty.
Dave Costa had a bounce back game after being lambasted in the forum the week prior. Dave scored his FIRST goal of the season on a beautiful pass from Mike Naczas (who also assisted on Paul’s game winner) for the 2-1 win.
Slumping Steve Taddonio has a breakout game stopping 36 of 38 shots including 2-breakaways and a sweet glove save from Lee Nogler’s top of the circle blast. Looks like Steve might have found his game just in time for the playoffs.
Tealsters Union had their lone goal of the game come off the stick of Leo Trombley who missed two previous empty net opportunities..., but after a talking to on the bench by “Dr Rob” he finally buried the 3rd one to ruin Dave Giusti’s shutout bid.
9:30PM Royal Family vs Marooned
Since he played the previous week Elder Lopes was slated to miss last week’s game…, but when his captain texted him about the CO2 leak, he was able to get out of work and make it to the rink for the 9:30 start.
Elder and the rest of the Royal Family beat up a team that only had 6-original players and 2-league designated fill-ins.
With no Mike Duggan in the lineup…, Jeff Deharo finally shuts his critics up in Hecklers Row with the best game of his season by recording his 1st shutout of the season and only the 3rd one this winter season.
With Mike missing his 2nd straight game against Jeff…, it’s starting to make us wonder, is Jeff Deharo paying off Mike Duggan to stay home…, or is Mike Duggan afraid of the critics in Hecklers Row if he doesn’t light up Jeff Deharo (like in their first meeting when Duggan only scored 1-goal)
Royal Family’s offense came mostly from Gary Wurlitzer who had a monstrous game with a hat trick and assisted on Rick Cassano’s 4th goal of his disappointing season.
For Marooned the 4-0 loss wasn’t their fault and it wasn’t for a lack of effort on their part…, but when Donny Maccini is your fastest forward on the forecheck..., it’s not saying much.
