Zero Tolerance Reminder
It’s Week #4 and we need to remind players about the leagues “Zero Tolerance” policy.
Before we start handing down suspensions, we will remind everyone that this has always been an “invitational only” league, and a player’s skill is not as important as a player’s character.
For those new players…, or those that need a reminder;
This is a reminder that the league has a “Zero Tolerance Policy” in effect. When you participate in the league you acknowledge that it’s your responsibility to be respectful of all players, referees, scorekeepers, administrative support individuals, and the facilities.
You are responsible for your actions, stick, and emotions at all times.
The following are (some) examples of actions that will not be tolerated and will lead to disciplinary actions up to (and including) suspension along with possible expulsion from the league:
- Verbal abuse of Players, Referees, or League Officials.
- Any physical contact with Referees or League Officials.
(Above infractions include both inside and outside the facility)
- Defamation to the League, its Players and/or League Officials via all electronic communications including email and social media.
- Throwing or slamming sticks.
- Defacing or damaging the facilities.
- Any intent to injure occurrences (including fighting).
League Officials include; Director(s), Timekeeper(s) and Game Statistician.
All incidents are reviewed by the League Director with input from the Board of Directors and all decisions are final. There is no appeals process.
Zip It!
To compliment the “Zero Tolerance Policy” we want to remind players that are not wearing a “C” or an “A” to “Zip It! Or Sit it!”
We have spent years trying to get away from players questioning and debating calls during the games. Our efforts have cut down on the number of debates and wasted time arguing calls like icing and where faceoffs should be.
The Referee’s have been deputized to start throwing offenders in the penalty box for “Delaying the games”. If the Referee sees that you are not a lettered player, they reserve the right to tell you to go see your captain(s)…, and if the debates continue, they can toss the offending player in the box for an “Unsportsmanlike” penalty for 1-minute or, (at the Referees discretion) a 5-minute “Misconduct” penalty.
1-minute penalties will result in your team being shorthanded… and 5-minute penalties will result in 5-on-5 but with “you” sitting for 5-minutes (plus a whistle).
Egregious arguments and continuing misconduct by the players may also result in further disciplinary actions by the league.
Remember to let your Captain(s() do the arguing (if they choose) or you could take Dave Chappelle’s advice;
