Truth... Lies... Facts... and Over-30 Fiction |
Marching Orders
With a lot of the top players out of the lineups last week due to a tournament and injuries, players like: Paul Firicano, Tony Medeiros, Rick Cassano, John Hines, Tommy Gallagher, Tony Medeiros, Jason Carrien, Dave Costa, Pedro Fontes, Tommy Gallagher, Timmy “Tito” Burke, Dave Guisti, Rob Sheridan, Lee Nogler, Dale McIssac, and Jim Barber.
There was no sense trying to put together a forum based on last Saturday’s three game massacre that was comprised of an 8-2 loss, 7-1 loss, and a 6-2 loss… without all of the league superstars it was a collective 21-5 goal differential.
This week the league’s front office “Director of Operations” wanted the forum to not be about the games and the blowouts… but with 6-games in 5-weeks for the month of March, and a lot of details to convey to the players, (we) wanted this to be an informative edition that we are calling “March-ing Forward” to highlight all the events as we wind down through the month March, and into the April playoffs and ultimately the end of the season.

New Rule Book
The league officials are always listening (always listening!!) … and as part of an effort to improve competition, balance teams and keep the games moving with our own unique revised rules. We are in the process of collecting these league specific rules under a new webpage and sub-pages called ironically enough; “Over-30 League Rules”.
The leagues Head Referee has the draft of the rules and once he stamps his approval on it… it will go to a sub committee to review the final draft before being published on our website.
We will announce the new web page once the League Director has signed off on it.

Doubleheader Weekend
This is the weekend that we tell our families we have other plans (Hockey Plans) as this weekend is an important one in the standings race. After this weekend we are officially two thirds done with the season.
There are (6) games in the month of March… Let’s see what a weekend of competition does to the race (Before and After) the “Doubleheader Weekend”.

Balance Due
If you have already paid your dues “in full” for the season… You can skip this section. Anyone else with a balance please read on.
Warning: Any player who still has an outstanding registration balance on March 22nd will not be allowed to play until that balance is paid in full.
This weekend, final registration balances are due. Please make your way over to the payment processing center with your cash (or check) and visit any of the (4) Tellers (Billy, Kellie, Naz or Jim).
|
Free Agents Freeze
All team rosters will freeze after this weekend. This will be your last chance to use any of the available fill-ins… but let’s be honest, you all want Cam Long for the final weekend. You can probably get him if you tell one or two of your top stars (our half your team) to stay home.
Starting Saturday, March 8th and going forward into the playoffs. Teams will play with the rosters they have, and no fill-in players (aka Cam) will be allowed to play (unless, with very limited exceptions ~ by the league director) if a team is drastically understaffed.

Spring Chicken
The 2024-2025 Spring Scoring Challenge will be released this week, we started the challenge back in 2018 and this is our 7th Spring Season randomly awarding a prize (via a drawing) to a single winner who qualified by beating their previous winter season stats.
The Challenge;
During the Spring Season only.., your New Years Resolution (and challenge) is to beat your previous Winter Season points total, and for the goalies they must beat their previous season GAA.
The Rules;
- Players must play a minimum of 6-games in the previous winter season to qualify
- Must beat your previous points total by "1-point"
- Goalies must be "under" their previous GAA total
- Ties do not qualify - you must beat the previous winter season stats
The Prize;
All players that beat their previous season total will qualify to be entered into a random drawing for a $75 Gift Card for Amazon. The random drawing will take place between the first 2-games of the semi-finals.

Dirty Dozen
The nominees are in, for the 2024-2025 Mylec Player of the year. This week we reached out to the captains for (2) nominees from their team. The now (12) nominees will appear on the ballot… and your vote matters.
Using “Rank Choice Voting” all voters need to pick their “Top 3”
1st Choice = 3-points
2nd Choice = 2-points
3rd Choice = 1-point
Look for the ballots to be circulated next week (March 8th) … it only takes 2-minutes to cast your vote. You can vote along party lines (teammates) or cross the aisle and support the players that you think are worthy of the honor. But you need to pick 3 players and rank them #1, #2, #3 on your ballot – sign your name!
Here’s a sneak preview of the ballot

Final Giveback
March will be the last month of the “2024-2025 Seasons of Giving Back” … it was very successful, and the tradition will remain for the 2025-2026 Seasons as we continue our fundraising efforts throughout the regular season, the Players Jamboree, and the Over-30 Golf Day.
The final monthly prize is tickets for two, to (2) Bruins games, for a single winner!
|
These tickets donated by (2) generous league affiliated donors.

Hall of Fame Debut?
It was supposed to be unveiled in January, but construction costs and a union strike moved the opening to February… then we had a OSHA violation with the “Hall of Records” and that pushed it back to a March unveiling (Maybe?)
The webmaster has promised that the “Over-30 Hall of Fame” will open in March of 2025.
What to expect: All of the (11) inductees to be immortalized with their induction photos in the “Hall of Fame” section. Along with the “Hall of Exhibits” that will highlight league records and important facts and stats about the league, historical events, along with a media section and All-time power rankings.
We look to have those pages unlocked and viewable sometime in March… as this will be a continuous work in progress as we provide updates (as required).
|
Lights – Camera - Action
The “Over-30 Documentary” – The Director’s Cut, is set to make its debut this month.
This will be the same 10-minute version… but extended to 18:42 with more interviews and information regarding the league.
In case you live under a rock… here’s is the original version that was submitted to Hockeytown, Mylec and the NBHL for promotional purposes.
We've seen the sneak preview... the extended version really highlights the league. Look for its debute next week.
