Over 30 Hockey League

The Dunkin Player of the Week award winner is Lee Nogler of the Wing-Ah’s.

Lee scores a hat trick across all three periods, while adding 2-assists, for his fourth multi-point game of the season.  Lee is having a rebound season on offense with his goal scoring and production.

The winner of the Dick’s Sporting Goods weekly award is Naz of the Canadian Geese.

In a surprising performance is the play of Naz who sets up three of his team's first four goals to help his team open up a close game.  In addition to his offensive contribution, we were all reminded a couple of times after breaking up the other team's top players that they should "get that S@%& out of here" on his watch!

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Colleen O’Connell of the Lone Rangers.

Congratulations to Colleen O'Connell as she scores her first goal of the season on a slapshot from the point, beating goalie A J Larabee.  With her goal, Colleen now has scored before 12 other defensemen in the league, including some top players on defense.  Please enjoy the spotlight Colleen its well-deserved, and go ahead and remind those other 12 goal-less players on defense if they say anything to "get that S@%& out of here" as you walk away!   

The winner of the Nelson Sousa memorial Goalie of the Week award is Dave Giusti of the Leafpeepers.

Dave has a solid game in net stopping 25 out of 26 shots faced, keeping his team ahead in a very close game until they can find their scoring offense.

The winner of the Mylec Defenseman of the Week award is Steve Silveira of the Leafpeepers.

Steve’s key assist sets up his team’s third goal of the game in the first period to break open a close one-goal game and shift the momentum to his team, while being his usual shot blocking shot self on defense.

The Dunkin Player of the Week award winner is Cam Long of the Leafpeepers.

Designated the same as Mike Duggan's "fill in until further notice" playing status, Cam Long has been added to the Leafpeepers and made an instant impact, scoring 4-goals in his debut, including the game winner in OT.  Cam showed off his impressive speed as he went end to end and outran the defense down the left wing, giving his new team a thrilling win.

The winner of the Dick’s Sporting Goods weekly award is Derrick Power of the Brew’ins.

Derrick’s hustle and assist set up his team’s surprising early jump start in their game against the top team.  During the early part of this season, we have seen Derrick hustle with his relentless forechecking and backchecking every game regardless of the score.  It is just a matter of time before his efforts are rewarded when he scores his first goal of the season.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Rick Cassano of the Leafpeepers.

Rick had a breakout game, as he put an end to his three-game scoring drought with 1-goal and

2-assists (his second assist setting up the game tying goal with just over a minute to play), as he had his running game going.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa memorial Goalie of the Week award is Anthony Petrillo of the Brew’ins.

Anthony had a standout game in net, stopping 35 out of 38 shots faced (including all 8 in OT), two of the goals not his fault due to some defensive breakdowns in coverage in front of him.  Anthony literally stood on his head denying his opponent, especially with his unbelievable stops in overtime; one on a breakaway by one of the league's top players, somehow making back-to-back rebound saves while lying on the rink having his opponent shaking his head and looking at the ceiling.

The winner of the Mylec Defenseman of the Week award is Paul Firicano of the Lone Rangers.

Paul led the way for his team on defense as quarterback and ball control specialist, making smart reads and breakout passes all game, while limiting the scoring chances of the opponent’s top players.  It’s only a matter of time before Paul will factor into his team’s offense. 

The Dunkin Player of the Week award winner is Rob Sheridan of the Lone Rangers.

Rob has a breakout game as he finally has wingers who are running that he can distribute the ball to, scoring a hat trick while adding 3-assists.  Rob showcased his leadership on the rink as well as his uncanny ability to read the play.

The winner of the Dick’s Sporting Goods weekly award is Nick Romano of the Canadian Geese.

Old man Nick has a throwback game to this younger playing days, as he sets up three goals.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Tony Mastrocola of the Wing-Ah’s.

Tony breaks out with a big game of his own on offense, hustling all game to set up the game's first three goals (yes Munchkin no need to look at the refs for that assist on the game sheet, we don't hand out phantom assists)!

The winner of the Nelson Sousa memorial Goalie of the Week award is A J Larabee of the Canadian Geese.

A J played a solid game in net, stopping 29 out of 30 shots he faced (his fourth straight game of facing 30 or more shots), many of which were prime scoring opportunities.  Making the initial save and not giving up any rebounds will go a long way in helping his team start to play a more organized defensive zone structure.  

The winner of the Mylec Defenseman of the Week award is John Hines of the Canadian Geese.

Finally makes his long overdue debut in a big impact way, John scored 1-goal while adding 2-assists, to go along with his quarter baking the team’s defense, as he gave his team a much-needed boost in their defensive zone play.

Senior Citizen 60+ Monthly award winners

September - The winner of the Senior Citizen award for the month of January is Jim Clarke of the Wing-Ah’s.

Jim had a solid start to his season, assisting on a goal, playing smart defense in his own zone contributing to his team only allowing two goals against, making clean breakout passes to his forwards, while even generating some shots on net.  We even got to see the dormant “spin move” from his Knighthawks playing days.

The much-touted rookie, finally makes his debut in the Over-30 league and lives up to all the pre-game hype, as he leads the way in scoring 2-goals while adding 1-assist.  His offense awakens his team's dormant offense which had only scored 1-goal in its previous two games.

The winner of the Dick’s Sporting Goods weekly award is Gary Goodwin of the Leafpeepers.

Finding out before his game that he would have to fill in as a center on the top line and take away his speed on the wing, Gary adjusted his game to that of goal scorer, as he scored his team’s only goal.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Gino Tammaro of the Canadian Geese.

With the game tied late in the second period where the next goal scored would be a big momentum shift, Gino played the role of playmaker and set up both his team’s goals in the third period.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa memorial Goalie of the Week award is Sean Roach of the Chickenhawks.

With his team holding a tenuous 1-0 lead heading into the third period, Sean made sure his team kept that lead as he stopped 19 out of 20 shots faced, buying time for his team to pull away late in the third period.

The winner of the Mylec Defenseman of the Week award is Shawn Mulcahy of the Chickenhawks.

Shawn makes his overdue debut this season and has a big impact on his team's scoring, factoring in on three of their four goals scored, with 1-goal and 2-assists, leading the way.

Mike has a statement game and gives the impression that he has finally arrived in the Over-30 league as a difference maker, scoring 5-goals while adding 1-assist, factoring in on six of his team's seven goals.  Best player of the game!

The winner of the Dick’s Sporting Goods weekly award is Don Maccini of the Chickenhawks.

Donnie has a breakout game on offense as the raggedy man scores a big powerplay goal that breaks this game open, while adding an assist.  Maybe this will inspire him to show up early for his games going forward.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Pedro Fontes of the Leafpeepers.

Pedro brings his A-game, scoring 2-goals while adding 1-assist and generating 11 shots on net.  Pedro was a standout the entire game, covering a lot of space on the rink.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa memorial Goalie of the Week award is Anthony Petrillo of the Brew’ins.

Anthony is impressive in net, giving his team a chance in a close game, as he stops 27 out of 29 shots faced, while standing out for his team.

The winner of the Mylec Defenseman of the Week award is Rob Greene of the Wing-Ah’s.

Rob emerges as the hero for his team on defense, scoring 2-goals, his second is the game's key goal and backbreaker that breaks open a tie game.  In addition to his scoring, Rob played a lot of minutes and was outstanding on defense.

The Dunkin Player of the Week award winner is Nick Doherty of the Brew’ins.

Nick had a big impact game on opening day, scoring a hat trick to break open a close one-goal game, scoring two goals in the third period, seventeen seconds apart.

The winner of the Dick’s Sporting Goods weekly award is Tony Mastrocola of the Wing-Ah’s.

Tony stepped up in his game, giving his team a boost on offense with some secondary scoring.  His goal in the second period turned a close game into a rout, while adding an assist.

The winner of the weekly AARP award is Rob Sheridan of the Lone Rangers.

Rob got himself and his team off to a great start, as he factored into every goal his team scored with 2-goals and 1-assist, while playing smart defense in his own zone, as his team held on to a close win.

The winner of the Nelson Sousa memorial Goalie of the Week award is Scott Rosato of the Lone Rangers.

With his team locked into very close game which wasn’t decided until twenty seconds left with an open net goal, Scott was very sharp and looking in mid-season form, stopping thirty out of thirty-one shots faced.

The winner of the Mylec Defenseman of the Week award is Dave Costa of the Brew’ins.

Looking very much like the quarterback of his team’s defense, Dave wasted little time to also be a factor in his team’s offense.  He set up two of his team’s first three goals of this game, then made a heads up play halfway through the third period, to set up the key goal as his team pulled away for the win.
