“Cash or Check”
Trick or Treat… or as Billy likes to say on this day “Cash or Check” …, as of today final registrations are due. As always if you need a special accommodation, please see Billy before the game, but don’t ignore your financial commitment to the league.
It might come back to “Haunt” you.

Hat Trick Race
Kevin “KG” Garnett is famous for his “Anything is Possible” exclamation after the Celtics won the 2008 NBA Championship… and 18-years later Kevin “KJ” Johnson is having that same feeling (but without winning a championship) as it’s too early to talk about that.
Kevin’s joyous moment comes off the heels of a 6-6 tie with the Brew’ins which must have felt like a championship win after losing 3-straight games. Even though it was a tie, “KJ” was key in putting a point in the “Pts” column in the standings for the Chickenhawks.
Nick Doherty and Kevin Johnson were neck-n-neck in the hat trick race until “KJ” scored his 4th goal of the game with 51-seconds left to play and sending them to a fan favorite 3-v-3 OT period where each team took away a covenant point.

Right On Queue
If you were within an earshot of “Hecklers Row”… you might have heard someone taunt “Get your TURNOVERS here!!” as Elder Lopes circled from behind his own net, and right on queue, served Manny Nunes a fresh warm “Elderberry Turnover”.
Thankfully, Manny didn’t score… and Elder went on to have his best point production game with 3-assists.
Good news for captain Angelo De Luca as the BC Eagles only have two more home games in the next 5-weeks..., which is enough time for Angelo to teach Elder how to make “Elderberry Cookies” instead.

First Meeting
Last week the Canadian Geese tested the waters with their first meeting against the #1 team (but) without their #1-star Ben Tomsyck and the return of their #8-star Jim Barber who was returning from a 5-week IR stint.
For the record both players recorded the same 0-goals & 0-assists on the game sheet.
But neither of those two players mattered for the Canadian Geese as it was the “Mike Duggan Show”… starring Mike Duggan. “Poopsie” went on a tear scoring a natural hat trick to put the Geese up 3-2… but it lasted for only 21-seconds until Lee Nogler tied the game on a backhander.
All around it was a solid game… until it got out of hand at the 4:42 mark in the 3rd period with matching double minors and a flock of Canadian Geese being sent to the Penalty Box ultimately costing them a potential point.

“C” to an “A”
Jamie Kehoe plays hero and villain within 34-seconds during the last 4-minutes of the game in a 3-3 tie.
First, Jamie scores a somewhat controversial powerplay goal with 3:17 left to play in the 3rd and puts his Wing-Ah’s up 4-3. Then just 34-seconds later, he too is seen climbing over the penalty box boards to serve his 1.5-minutes for checking.
We asked Jamie about going from a “C” to an “A” and if that was part of his early success as the current #2 defenseman along with his teammate and #1 leader: Rob Greene?
Jamie said “I liked being a captain, and I won a championship as a captain (even before Angelo De Luca) does… but I like playing on a Dominic DeFrancisco stacked team a lot better…, my only regret is we’ll probably go undefeated, but not perfect thanks to the Brew’ins”

Fall Season
The Leafpeepers are making the most of their Fall Season (so far). Since the start of Fall (September 22nd) the “Fall Boys” are 3 & 2 and currently on a 3-game winning streak.
Last Week goaltender Dave Giusti was the 1st goalie to post a 2nd shutout of the season… and now sits in the #2 spot on the leaderboard. Dave is now waiting for Dale McIsaac to have one of his implosion games… but that’s just not happening while Dale is on his “Blind Goalie Challenge” and with Jamie Kehoe & Rob Greene in front of him.
The two go head-to-head next weekend (Week 11) in what could be a battle for the #1 spot on the Goalie Leader Board.
If the Leafpeepers can keep their fall foliage and winning ways going… just remember “Fall” doesn’t end until all the leaves have fallen and of course, officially on December 21 (just one week before the finals).

Rangers Camp
Last week the Lone Rangers looked like they were having tryouts for some new “Rangers”… with 6-rostered players out of the lineup, the League Director had to go to the bullpen and bring in a few players from the waiting list. ~Yes! Nick Doherty there is a waiting list.
One of those waiting list players was the return of Johny Mastrocola, who like the rest of the Lone Rangers did nothing on the scoring sheet… but he didn’t hurt them either.
It was nice to see the other half of the “Lollipop Guild” back in action on the rink.

#Sparkplugs
Once again Gary Goodwin was making the rounds to his old Roadrunners teammates handing out “Sparkplugs” to celebrate Dominic DeFrancisco’s Wing-Ah’s tie to the Brew’ins two weeks ago.
Unfortunately for Dom… and it’s kind of evil on Gary’s part, by making Dom toast his tie to Dave Costa… to simultaneously toast his undefeated anniversary as well.
This week Gary will be celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs and their 1st (20-3) loss of the season to the Seahawks, ending their 5-0 streak as well, and the last team in the NFL to have a bid at “Perfection”.
Tito’s Award
Tito’s Vodka, the official vodka of the Over-30 League is giving out this week’s “Play of the Week” to Timmy “Tito” Burke. But how can “Tito” win an award if he’s not playing this week you ask?
The “Play of the Week” is not “Tito” missing Week #8 to celebrate Halloween with his elaborate Haunted House and “Live Actors”… No, he did one better.
Timmy took out Cam Long for this week’s match up with the Leafpeepers vs Chickenhawks… thus leaving the door open for a potential Chickenhawks 1st win in 5-weeks.
Angelo De Luca better rally the troops as Dave Giusti is coming off his second shutout of the season for the “Fall Foliage Peepers”
