Mark Stickney has also decided to extend his summer downtime until January 2026. Mark had a tough season with M*A*S*H and he needs some extra time to cope with the fact that when he looks back to see if his goalie is ready… that once again it was going to be Dave Giusti, who Mark said is a better “grill-tender” than goaltender.
Plus, he still blames Timmy “Tito” Burke for missing half the season that also helped contribute to him failing the “Pink Shirt” challenge.
Oh!, and Mark, that “Pink Shirt” will be waiting for you (when you return), you are not getting out of that failed wager that easy… Goaltender Scotty Rosato had to wear his pink cloak of failure for several seasons, and we suspect the current “Blind Goalie Challenger” Dave Giusti will be next to wear the “blind stench” of goaltender failure… but not Sean Roach, who crushed his goalie challenge two seasons ago.
Paul White is also taking this season off for some extended recovery (probably from his refereeing days) as Paul is “1st & Goal” on the 5-yard line of retirement.
All these senior players (except Jay) are eligible for the Over-30 Hall of Fame… but none of them are ready to go in just yet. We’ll look to see them “walking through that door” in January and (yes) according to Rick Pitino, they will be “gray and old”… but they should still be playing in 2026… stay tuned!
Help Wanted
With the players on the “waiting list” (waiting less) to get an opportunity to play in the league… we need to build up the waiting list and look to evaluate some new talent.
Kevin Wilson earned his spot on Capo-Zero… and Seth Ford is showcasing his talents to Rob Sheridan and Dave Costa for a potential roster spot in the league… meanwhile Dan Porier Sr went from the “waiting list” to the “IR List”… and Tommy Smith went from the “No Invite List”… to the “Guest List”… to the “Recovery List” before he could even make a “Team List”.
So please put the word out… We are looking for some fresh new talent to get onto the waiting list, then fill-in for absent players and work their way onto a roster spot. Have them go to the website and sign up or come up and talk to Billy directly.
Just remember the Over-30 criteria… Good player, good guy, has both playing and financial commitments to the league. The league has seen an influx of “good guys” make their way into the league over the recent years… and that’s why this “invitational only” league has been so successful for the past 34-years.
Jokers Wild
Pick-a-Card…. The new season of “Jokers Wild” kicks off this weekend. For those new players, this is one of the leagues fundraising events throughout the entire season.
Director of Fundraising and Special Events, Tony Medeiros will have a giant foam board with all the cards from a playing deck taped to both sides of the board.
The Home Team and the Away Team are taped up accordingly with each side hiding one “Joker” amongst the cards.
Pay $10 (per card) and sign your name on the back of the card… when the game is filled with signatures (typically once a month) … Tony will start flipping the cards (live) at the penalty box to reveal the jokers from each side. The two lucky players that signed the back of the Joker Cards win $200 each (Cash – No taxes)… and yes you can win both sides if you’re lucky enough to sign both joker cards, so don’t forget to play both sides.
Here’s a tip for new players wanting in on the action… if you see a card with the name “Lee” on it… you want to buy up the cards around his neighborhood as Lee has been our most successful winner to date (and also Lee buys a lot of cards) so there are many surrounding cards in “Lee’s” neighborhood to choose from.
