Truth... Lies... Facts... and Over-30 Fiction

Kellie “Aylwin”?

Congratulations Kellie “Aylwin” Abcunas on being the 13th Hall of Fame Inductee.  It was only fitting that #13 went to an inductee without reservations about a bad luck number (like #13) or to someone who already owns a black cat (who’s cat, may or may not) get the playoffs predictions right.

Both #12 (Paul Correia) and #13 (Kellie “Aylwin” Abcunas) were back-to-back super secret inductions tied to the number of the induction being honored… Since we can’t wait until the 77th inductee… the 14th should come as no surprise, as the Hall of Fame Committee has already secured Matty “The Great One” Iannello to be  inducted sometime in November.

We are just finalizing the details with the makers of the Tom Brady bronze statue, to make “The Great One”  bronze statue for fans to pose with (or throw beers at) in the Hockeytown parking lot.

Which brings us to our HoF poll question of the week.

Which was a bigger Hall of Fame ceremonial screw up?

  1. The League Director retiring #2 for Billy Mack… but handing him a jersey with Mack #5 on it?
  2. The League Director introducing (his wife) as Kellie “Aylwin”… when he meant to say “Chief of Staff… Kellie Abcunas”

Giving Back

Congratulations Jamie Kehoe for winning the first “Give back to the players – Winter Season 2025”.  Jamie received a $150 Gift Certificate to Market Basket… he’s the first of many monthly winners who will be awarded a tax refund on their league season dues, via a monthly give back prize.

This would not be possible without our fundraising efforts by our Director of Fundraising & Special Events; Tony Medeiros, and he will be rolling out some “Fresh New Ideas” for 2025-2026 as part of the newest member of the “New Regime”… we’ll keep you posted as we go.

Best Old Guy

Congratulations Alex Leone on the first “Senior Citizens” Award… It must be a real honor to be recognized as the first “best of the oldest” players in the league.

We’re sure the brothers in blue will be thrilled with your award too (if you shared?)… and don’t get used to “FREE” donuts… we have a strict “No Repeat Winners” policy.

Week # 4 Saturday, September 27
4:30 PM The Revolution 0 Tommy Guns 7
5:30 PM Poo Bears 4 Cam-A-Lot 2
6:30 PM Capo-Zero 4  First Responders 0

4:30 - The Revolution vs. Tommy Guns
#1 Star Tom Gallagher
#2 Star Michael Duggan
#3 Star Doug Sedille

“Domination?”

We checked with the League’s front office to confirm that (YES!) Tommy Gallagher is the correct captain for the stacked team we called Tommy Guns.   Typically, the stacked team is reserved for Dominic DeFrancisco, as you may recall teams like (Roadrunners, Black Magic, and Dominions) and we thought there may have been a mix-up when assigning rosters and captains.

Tommy Guns could have been called “Domination”… but 1st year captain Tommy Gallagher was rewarded for his leadership… and just curious, after another blowout win… is it too soon to start saying the “P-word”?

Unfair Representation

“Taxation without representation” was a catalyst for the American Revolution… and last week it was “Goaltending without representation”  that was a catalyst for the 7-0 loss for The Revolution.

With Scotty Rosato out of the line-up, The Revolution was not a fair representation of the team we saw the week prior.  They gave the #1 team (Tommy Guns) a battle for 15-minutes keeping it a 2-0 game halfway through the second period… but once the bus wheels started wobbling… they fell completely off leading to their shutout fiery crash.

Distinct Kicking Motion

Two weeks ago the Referee’s missed Ray Dow’s (optical illusion goal) when Ray seemed to score a goal on a blast off the draw… but half the fans (said it went in)… half the fans (said it didn’t go in)… half the officials (said they didn’t see it)… and another league official (was 100% certain) it went in.

All we ask is that if you didn’t see it… just be consistent.  Last week Mike Luise also seemed to score a goal to bust AJ Larabee’s shutout, but it was “kicked in” and now all of a sudden, the on rink officials “saw it”… it was a 7-0 game… next time let Mike have the goal, and just pretend you didn’t see it (like you did to poor Ray).

5:30 - Poo Bears vs. Cam-A-Lot
#1 Star Pedro Fontes
#2 Star Bob Snyder
#3 Star Michael (Naz) Naczas

Jacket Night

Dave Costa might be the new “Portuguese Godfather” or whatever the Portuguese equivalent of that is.

Last week it was “Jacket Night” and the former captain of Azores Express was seen handing out jackets to his former teammates.  To prove Dave is now the real “Portuguese Powerhouse” he scored a goal and added two assists to show his fellow “Portagee” that the road to a championship goes through him.

Also, it was reported the Dave’s new championship jacket has “Captain Dave” on the sleeve and now Costa (for some weird reason) feels compelled to buy a boat.

He’s Back-hander!

It seems that Rob Sheridan is back… “Dr Rob” seems to be running at almost full throttle, turning defenseman players inside-out like he’s a 30-year-old… and if he stays healthy maybe we could throw his name in the MVP debate as Rob has a “Most Valuable Presence” when he’s on the rink.

Once a move reserved for a 1950’s housewife, last week Rob schooled rookie goaltender Anthony Petrillo on the art of the backhander.

That was Anthony’s first matchup against Rob… so we hope you took notes Anthony.  Rob has a wicked backhander… typically targeted at the top corners, so stand tall when he’s coming in on his backhand.

Rob’s nemesis is not his skillset… but his attendance, as our prediction is Rob will be missing just as many games as Elder Lopes these two seasons… when he exchanges his hockey sticks for golf clubs during his sunny weekend trips to Florida.

Out Muscled

Nice goal Bobby Snyder… after getting promoted to “power forward” you out muscled Dave Costa and had Mike Naczas “get his own shit outta here” as you handed both of them, a “that’s a minus” chirp from Hecklers Row.

We should also give accolades to Pedro Fontes who scored two-goals, one of which was a beautifully mastered hand-eye coordination goal by picking Rob’s rebound out of mid-air… We would be congratulating you on your hat trick, but we saw you take a pass all alone in the slot and stumble backwards over your own two feet, and right in front of the commissioner’s box too.

6:30 - Capo-Zero vs. First Responders
#1 Star George Mederios
#2 Star Angelo De Luca
#3 Star Gino Tammaro

Winning!!

Everything is great when you’re “winning”… isn’t that right Charlie Sheehan and Gino Tammaro?

Gino is a prime example of the Over-30 draft intentions.  When the sole “Drafter” divides the (72) “Draftees “amongst the 6-teams… The draft makes more sense when (yourself) and your team plays, as it was intended to do on paper.

After his 3-point performance last week, including the first shorthanded goal of the season, Gino is two points away from getting his picture up with the League Leaders… and his team is 2-points out of 1st place.

We say this now Gino… because we want you to understand who your captain is, and how many championships he’s won (as a captain).  With your help this season it might be Capo-Zero… Gino-One!  We suggest you wear your new championship jacket every week as motivation, maybe even let Angelo De Luca try it on… but explain to him that his will say “Captain” on the sleeve.

First Response

There is no award for this… but Dale McIssac gets the “Most Improved” award for the month of September.

After his Week #2 shellacking, when he faced 32-shots and only stopped 72% of them for his 9-5 loss… He quickly learned from his blowout to Tommy Guns and only let up 1-goal to the Poo Bears.  He followed that performance up with his “First Response” to the First Responders… “No Goals for You!... Come back Week #9”

The Discovery Channel has “Shark Week” in July… and the Over-30 League almost had “Shutout Week” (Week #4) as both Dale and AJ Larabee shut their opponents out with a combined 11-0… Hey Anthony Petrillo… “You’re gonna need a bigger boat” or at least a bigger blocker if you want to fish for sharks in this league.

Balanced Scoring

Like The Revolution two weeks ago when they spread their 6-goal victory to (6) different goal scores, last week Capo-Zero did the same with their 4-goal victory using (4) different scorers.

Dare we say it…, this could be the season Angelo De Luca… You’re getting balanced scoring, good goaltending and Kyle McCabe is not playing like Kyle McCabe from Barney & Friends, he looks more comfortable as a second season veteran.

Could Gino Tammaro’s new championship jacket be obsolete and replaced with a new one in January 2026?

First Responders Prediction(s)

This week we’ll make our “First Prediction(s)” for the First Responders;

BC Eagles (1-3) are away… Elder Lopes will play today (Even)

First Responders (1-3) are home… vs Tommy Guns (Over/under – 9)

Elder Lopes baking “Apple Turnovers” for easy goals (-200)

Dominic DeFrancisco scoring two goals (+100)

Cam-A-Lot of?

Chiefs Player/Coach Reggie Dunlop is famous for saying “We got a lot of losses”… but now if you ask newly appointed captain Tony Medeiros, he can say “We got a “Cam-A-Lot” of losses”… with one of those losses being Cam Long.

Rumor has it Cam is looking potentially at a November return… we just hope he makes it back before we close the rosters after Week #10.

Another Divorce?

We know Lee Nogler divorced his wife “Sara Lee” as Lee drastically slimmed down in the offseason… and some of that weight might have been talent-weight too, as Lee is now 0-4 with goal scoring.

If you recall, back when Mike Duggan got engaged… he lost 50% of his talent to engagement and then marriage… But now Mike is back on the top of the leaderboard following his hat trick and 5-point game against his former goaltender teammate.

Does anyone know, did Mike get divorced already… because he seems to be back to “Pre-marital Doo-gan”

MISI MVP?

Sorry about last week’s late posting of the weekly stats… One of the league’s officials was golfing and cooking out with the last celebration of the 2025 MISI League.

We’re just left with one lingering question…

Thankfully John Hardy has no say for the Over-30 League MVP… otherwise that Lucite Award might say Jim Barber or Mike Naczas on it… and we all know there is a snowballs chance in hell of either of those two being a Season MVP.
