Shutdown Defense, Shutdown Government and now Shutdown Long.

Cam Long is now on the list of 2025 Shutdowns after playing just one game of his triumphant return off the IR list.

Cam played “long enough” to get a parting gift in the form of a Dunkin Donuts “Player of the Week” award for his final appearance of 2025.

For Tony Medeiros and the rest of Cam-A-Lot… Hopefully “Punxsutawney Cam” sees his shadow in January, to indicate an early return for the 2026 Spring Season.

Breaking News:  We interrupt this 7-day “Cam Shutdown” to bring you more late breaking news regarding The Revolution. 

After just two games Mike Braga’s Over-30 debut has come to an end after an MRI and consultation with his doctor.  Look for Mike to possibly return for the September 2026 Draft. Until then, the league will be backfilling his newly vacated roster spot.

Big Shoes

With Cam Long taking the “Long way home”… it’s now up to an old familiar face to fill Cam’s shoes.

Welcome back Chris Ducharme who will make his formal debut for Cam-A-Lot this weekend.  Chris was a fill-in last weekend for Tommy Guns and although he technically scored a goal (it wasn’t seen by the Referee) who was down low… and despite the 3-0 shutout, Chris was a noticeable impact player and should be a weekly contributor to Cam-A-Lot’s championship quest.

Don’t worry Chris… it’s not like you have “Big shoes” to fill.  You’re only replacing the best player in the league… no pressure.

It’s Official

Mark your calendars… We have another inductee for the Over-30 Hall of Fame.

This time it’s not a secret induction... November 22^nd 5:30, Bill Abcunas will formally induct the 14^th recipient of such a prestigious honor, when (we) enshrine Matty “The Great One” Iannello into the hall.

Matty’s legacy is already plastered all over the Hall of Records, but his final recognition by the league will solidify what he (and others) already knows… that “Matty-I” was the greatest player to ever play in the league.

See you in a few weeks when we honor “The Great One”.

Fill-in Goals??

Everyone knows that fill-in players don’t get credit for their goals and assists… but the goals do count towards the win and the opposing goaltender stats.

Without their captain Tommy Gallagher and “Young Gun” Mike Duggan in the lineup, Tommy Guns lost their third straight game thanks to a Dale McIssac (shutout??)

Tommy Guns only scored two goals (or should we say, two disallowed goals) that came off the sticks of two fill-in players. 

Chris Ducharme scored from the side of the net, but the Referee down low didn’t see it (or hear it) and Dan Poirier Sr had their second goal recalled from a high-sticking call… both disallowed goals helped preserve the shutout for Dale.

Binky Member

Well, it looks like Patrick Spencer is also a card carrying “Binky Member” with his two “Binkies” Tommy Gallagher and Mike Duggan out of the line up, “Patricia”  as he was called from Hecklers Row, had a zero-points day, to compliment the zero-goal performance by his slumping team with their 3^rd straight loss.

According to insider reports, all three are expected to play this weekend… so let’s see if they can rekindle there scoring touches and break their 3-game losing streak.  Remember it’s only 3-points between 2^nd place and last place and this is a 4-point swing weekend.

New Top Seed

It seems the “Max wish” pep talk from last week’s forum worked, as Angelo De Luca took advantage of Tommy Guns and their missing players to jump up to the “Top Seed” in the standings.

But before you go uncorking champaign bottles… remember the top two seeds are often cursed (come the playoffs)… just ask Dominic DeFrancisco.  History has proven that the first-place playoff “BYE Week” and the pre-game “Season Awards” are both jinxed.

Hey Max, if your dad finishes in first or second place, don’t get excited…  You might want to put your college tuition money on the other team.  At least that way you’ll have a free semester of college, courtesy of your dad and Uncle Gino Tammaro.

No Leaders, No Problem

With captain Dave Costa and his assistant Rob Sheridan both traveling… and Mark Stickney on indefinite IR, the Poo Bears were left without true leadership.

For the record, cutting and pasting your own photo where the “A” is supposed to be on the teams photo page, doesn’t make you an “A”… #StolenValor

Everyone in Hecklers Row was betting the money line on the First Responders.  Players were predicting total annihilation without Rob and Dave… but yet it was just three periods later that First Responders captain Dominic DeFrancisco was seen chucking his stick in frustration after the 4-2 loss.

Assist Trick

Nice work Leo Trombley… No bad press for you this week.  You had yourself a nice little “Assist Trick” by assisting on (3) of your teams 4-goals.  Dave Costa and Rob Sheridan would have been proud of you last week.

No missed open-netters (that we saw) and we heard the driver of that “Portuguese Bread Truck” apologized to you… and without Rob and Dave in the lineup there was no “Trombleying”… it was a good week to be Leo.

Scoring Sequence

Without Rob Sheridan in the lineup to dole out assists… Leo Trombley was the play maker for Poo Bears.

With Marty Makarewicz scoring two goals last week… we noticed it was recorded as 77 from 88 and no secondary assist.  

The third GWG and the 4^th nail in the coffin were courtesy of Marty (77) from Leo (88)… and if only Pat Pirone (99) could have gotten into the action it could have been 77-88-99 on the scoring sheet. 

Let’s see if we can make that scoring sequence happen before these two seasons are over.

Best Game

Last week the League Director called the 6:30 match-up of Cam-A-Lot vs The Revolution as “The best game of the season, so far”

No, it wasn’t a high scoring Texas Shootout… it was more like a “Pitcher’s Duel” except with goaltenders… so I guess we could say it was a “Goaltenders Duel” between Anthony Petrillo and Scotty Rosato, as they we’re both singlehandedly the reason the game ended with a 1-0 win for Cam-A-Lot.

Both teams, played an intense back and forth game with a playoff vibe to it… Both teams, had tons of scoring chances… and both teams, had a goalie laser focused on getting the win for their team.

The difference was… only one team had Donny Maccini for the win.

Lucky Green

Green seems to be Donny Maccini’s lucky color… he “bets” a ton of it on college football and Keno… and now “wears” a ton of green on Saturday’s

When Donny isn’t spending his hard earned “green” money on Keno trying to predict the outcome of 20-balls… he’s covering his 2-balls by wearing his new lucky green shorts and matching uniform.

Donny was the lone scorer in last weeks win over The Revolution, which technically means it was Donny Maccini – 1 vs The Revolution - 0

CAM-Is-Gone

Lower the #8 Flag on the Cam-A-Lot castle… it wasn’t his 0-goals and 0-assists week filled with lots of running and controlling the game without reaping statistical rewards…, it was the aftermath on Sunday that did Cam in.

With Cam out and Chris Ducharme added to the line-up… We’re going to see whose number gets run up the castle flagpole next.

Maybe Lee Nogler with #33 with “Bet-On-Lee”… or keeping with the castle theme Gary Goodwin #34 with “Stonehedge”

“Long” Distance Dedication

Dear Casey Kasem,

I was given a gift… the top player in the league, my ticket to a championship, and just like that it’s “Long-gone”.

With Capo-Zero in first place, I now must face the reality that I might be the new Angelo Deluca (of captains) in the making.

I wanted to send a “Long” Distance Dedication to someone new to the area that needs some directions getting home from Hockeytown.

Could you please play something from Supertramp that I can crank on the radio as we drive past Championship Blvd, and together we take “The Long Way Home”

Goodbye “Man Bun”… hello Heterosexualism.  After years of using gender neutral bathrooms, Nick Doherty came into last week’s game like a new man.

Since Nick did nothing on the scoring sheet… and we can’t recall any highlights of Nick from last week… we’ll use this space to look at the hairstyle history of Nick.
